Well… you definitely can’t miss us now! 🙌

Our new signage is up and we may be just a little bit obsessed with how good it looks.

BUILD. CONNECT. EMPOWER. CREATE.

Four little words that sum up exactly what Geraldton Women’s Shed is all about and now they’re proudly sitting above the door of our new home at 299 Marine Terrace.

A huge thank you to CBH Group and their Grass Roots Community Grants program, whose support helped make our new signage possible. We’re incredibly grateful to have local and regional organisations backing what we’re building for women in our community.

After so much work behind the scenes getting the Shed ready, seeing our name finally up on the building feels like another pretty special milestone. And now you all know where we are!

We’re here. We have a home. And you're always welcome 💙🧡💚❤️

Glenda - AKA The Basket Case Lady - kicked off our very first workshop in the new shed on Saturday!

Armed with hand-picked natural fibres collected from roadsides and verges, Glenda taught us how to turn grass, palm leaves and branches into our very own trinket baskets 🌾

A huge thank you to Mitsui E&P and Beach Energy for the grant funding helping bring Mid West women together to learn, laugh and connect.

And of course, a massive thank you to Glenda, Basketcase Lady and the Mad Hatter, for sharing her skills - turns out being a basket case is actually quite useful 😉

Come and weave with us! 🧺
Join us for a relaxing and creative Natural Fibres Basket Weaving Workshop with Basketcase Lady and the Mad Hatter.

Learn the basics of weaving with natural fibres and create your own beautiful basket to take home. All materials are provided, and you’re welcome to bring along any special fibres, ribbons, fabrics or natural materials you’d like to incorporate into your creation.

No experience needed - just come along, slow down, get creative and enjoy some good company.

WELDING COURSE: WEEK TWO!
Well… things definitely stepped up a notch this week! ️

We had another full house for Week Two of our Welding Course, and after getting the basics under their belts last week, the ladies were ready to get even more hands-on.

This week they learnt how to use a bunch of different equipment, built on their welding skills and really started getting creative - and just LOOK at what they’re making! Not bad for a group who had never welded before last week!

We also had Ella from 7NEWS join us for the night to film some of the action and chat with the women about their experience - so keep an eye out for some familiar faces on the telly!

Another huge thank you to Wayne and the team at Central Regional TAFE for another brilliant night of teaching, encouragement and letting our ladies loose on the equipment.

And, of course, thank you to Mid West Ports Authority and their Community Grants Program for funding this course and helping us give local women the opportunity to try something completely new, build practical skills and discover just how capable they are.

We can't wait to see what next week brings!

That’s How We Shed!

WELDING COURSE: WEEK ONE ☝️
Last week was the first night of our three-week Welding Course and what a start! ️

Every single one of these women was a first-time welder, and by the end of the night they were already creating some pretty fabulous practice pieces. There was plenty of learning, plenty of sparks and, most importantly, everyone absolutely loved it.

A huge thank you to Wayne and the boys at Central Regional TAFE for sharing their skills, knowledge and patience and giving our women such a great introduction to welding. We couldn’t have asked for a better crew to help them get started!

And a very special thank you to Mid West Ports Authority and their Community Grants Program, whose funding made this course possible. Support like this gives local women the opportunity to get hands-on, learn practical skills, try something completely new and maybe even discover a talent they never knew they had.

This night was all about learning the basics and having a go and judging by what they achieved in week one, we have a feeling there are going to be some AMAZING pieces coming out of the workshop over the next couple of weeks.
