Our next meeting is Monday13th April at the RSL Hall, Chapman Road, Geraldton 1 p.m. This month we have guest speaker Alison Muller from Regional Alliance West.
We welcome anyone wishing to join our CWA of WA branch, just come along and make yourself known to the members. Otherwise comment here and our President or Secretary will be in contact with you prior to the meeting.
We take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and happy Easter where ever you may be spending it. If driving on our roads, allow extra time and do not drive tired. Taking extra time could be a life saver.

“Good company, informative speakers and plenty to think about — a great afternoon for Champion Bay CWA.”

What a stimulating and informative afternoon for Champion Bay CWA Branch members (and a couple of husbands!) we had yesterday afternoon.

Rather than holding a meeting every month, we have decided that some months will simply be an opportunity to enjoy each other’s company and hear from guest speakers.

Our first speaker was Nicole from Geraldton Bendigo Community Bank, who gave a very informative presentation about understanding what happens to your bank accounts upon your death. It certainly gave us plenty to think about.

Our second speaker was Kirrilee Warr MLA, Member for Geraldton. Many of us have known Kirrilee since she was a young girl, so it was especially meaningful to hear her speak about her life before and after being elected to the Parliament of Western Australia. As Shadow Minister for Local Government and Fisheries, Kirrilee has been very much in the spotlight recently.

Her passion for improving infrastructure across the electorate, and supporting education, health, agriculture and the fishing industry, was inspiring to hear.

We are proud of you, Kirrilee. Thank you for sharing your story with us. We will continue to watch with interest, your journey as the National Party Member for Geraldton.

Five Champion Bay CWA members attended the ‘Women Inspiring Better Business’ (WIBB) breakfast this morning, held in the Batavia Hall of the Geraldton Grammar School. The event celebrated Women’s International Day, which is officially celebrated on 8th March. The event focused on the amazing work being done by ‘Midwest Charity Begins at Home’ in this region. Midwest Charity Begins at Home was founded in 2008 and operates on the values of Contribution, Community, Integrity and Compassion. Kathryn Jackson did an excellent job in conducting proceedings and interviewing four committee members of MCBH. Congratulations to the WIBB Committee. We are sure all women left the event inspired.

This afternoon our members enjoyed the unveiling of the Edith Dircksey Cowan OBE memorial statue in Geraldton. The Geraldton volunteer tour guides should be very proud of what they have achieved with this statue and bringing it to fruition. Our branch was proud to be able to help in a small way. Congratulations to you all.

It's been a busy and rewarding week for Champion Bay members, especially the office bearers. Branch President Heather Allen very successfully organised for family members of the four members who received 'CWA Service Awards', to be present at the branch Christmas luncheon held at the Geraldton Town Band Clubrooms. And... Heather managed to get all four family members to the luncheon without any knowledge to the recipients. The surprise on the recipients faces was a reward in itself. Well done, Heather.
Below is a selection of photos taken on the day.

Members in our branch have taken the challenge this year and donated items of varying kinds for Christmas hampers for our 3 nursing homes in Geraldton for the staff that care for the residents who can no longer live at home. This morning Coral, Maeva and myself put everything together and wrapped them so that we could deliver to the Nursing homes.
Very rewarding project and it was tempting to try some of the delicous home baked goodies.

A very happy Christmas luncheon was held Monday at the Geraldton City band rooms. I am sure our photographers will share photos soon. Congratulations to our two CWA legends in Betty Ford and Kay Creasy. Congratulations also to the recipients of Honour badges, those members being Sue Collingwood and Coral Pridmore.
