Almost every culture in human history marked the passage from boy to man with something deliberate, a ceremony, a challenge, a community that showed up to say “you are becoming something new, and we see it.”
Modern Australian life doesn't really have that. There's no clear line. No moment. Just a slow drift from childhood into adulthood that most boys navigate alone, without anyone actually naming what's happening to them.
That absence isn't a failure of any individual parent, it's a gap in the culture itself. Boys have always needed a structured path and a community of men to walk it with them. Most just don't get one anymore.
We think about this a lot. It's the whole reason The Blokehood Project exists.
