Celebrating Geraldton Seniors - One Smile at a Time ⭐️
Snippets of My Life by John Gaze

In 1996 we left Coffs Harbour to come and live in Geraldton, we travelled with a “mobile phone” …it looked just like an ordinary house brick and turned out to be useless! It’s hard to comprehend that in just over 30 yrs computers, smartphones, tablets have taken over and revolutionised our daily life with the pressure to go online and do the most mundane of tasks.

In 1999 Midwest Seniors Online Inc was formed and we met at the Geraldton library, then moved to the QEII Centre and our current premises is “The Residency”.
The group has seen hundreds of seniors through their doors. I’ve volunteered for over 25 years and found it most rewarding.
I also volunteer with pickleball at the QEII Centre and helped get the program started. It’s now underway and lots of fun.

Celebrating Geraldton Seniors One Smile at a Time⭐️
Snippets of My Life by Nita Rumble

I was born in a small country town on the edge of the Barossa Valley in South Australia. At age 21 I moved to Northampton for a 12-month working holiday to live with my sister & family. Some eleven years later I was living in Geraldton with a husband & our two small boys. In 1986 I started a Family Day care business – home based childcare and in 2022 I retired after completing 36 years of childcare. I loved my job- didn’t want to retire!! My heart said no but my body said thank you. I didn’t like the paperwork, didn’t particularly like some parents but loved every child.

Life in retirement is happy but very busy. I belong to the Salvation Army, my church and am involved in lots of activities, A privilege to be able to volunteer. I came to the “Laughs & Crafts” Group at the Centre about 18 months ago at the invitation of a friend. What a wonderful group of friendly, kind & helpful people! We bring our own crafts & help each other and if someone has what the other needs its freely given.

I also now have a vege garden and love to watch things grow from seed to your table. And not forgetting my 6 wonderful grandchildren. Geraldton has been my home now for 43 years and I wouldn’t live anywhere else.
