🥾 Great effort from all our Cubs and families who took part in the Region Cub Scout Hike on Saturday! 🌿

From the shorter 6km walk through to the full 14km circuit, it was fantastic to see everyone getting involved, challenging themselves and enjoying the amazing coastal scenery around Anglesea. A big effort from all the Cubs who tackled the tracks, hills and kilometres with great spirit throughout the day 👏

Thanks as well to all the leaders, parents and volunteers who helped make the day such a success. Plenty of tired legs by the end, but lots of smiles and memories made along the way! 🌊☀️🥾

🌅 Lest We Forget – ANZAC Day 2026

This morning, our 1st Geelong Cubs and Scouts proudly attended the ANZAC Day service at the Leopold War Memorial.

It was a special moment seeing our young people represent the group so respectfully — laying a wreath, standing in silence, and taking the time to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who served.

These are the experiences that help shape resilience, gratitude, and a deeper understanding of community. We’re incredibly proud of how they carried themselves today.

A big thank you to the leaders, families, and wider community who came along to support.

What a fantastic Term 1 it’s been for 1st Geelong Scouts! 🌟

From camps and adventures to awards and community spirit, our Cubs and Scouts have packed so much into the first few months of 2026.

Highlights included:
🏕️ Cub Scouts tackling the challenge courses and caves at Eumeralla Camp
⛴️ A fun Founder’s Day adventure travelling from Queenscliff to Geelong and Portarlington
🥾 An adventurous journey from Thirteenth Beach to Barwon Heads
🎣 Scouts enjoying fishing night – catching fish and helping clean up the area
⛺ Our Scouts bringing home a Silver Pennant at the Stradbroke Cup camping competition
🚩 A successful Founder’s Day camp at Ocean Grove, including building a suspended flagpole
👏 A huge congratulations to Wayne Myers on receiving Life Membership with the Geelong Try Boys Brigade – a wonderful recognition of his years of service
🙌 Thank you to all our amazing families and volunteers who supported our fundraising and activities throughout the term

We’re also excited to share that we received a $1000 grant to continue providing free uniforms for new members – helping more local young people give Scouting a go.

As we head into Term 2, we’re looking forward to more fun, friendship and adventure. We currently have vacancies in both Cubs and Scouts, so if your child would love to build confidence, make friends and try new things, feel free to reach out.

🎉 What a way to wrap up the term for 1st Geelong Cub Scouts! 🐺⛳

Last Tuesday night we headed down to Curlewis Golf Club for a brilliant evening of mini golf, laughs, and a bit of friendly competition 🌅

The Cubs had an absolute blast navigating the course, cheering each other on, and (of course) celebrating plenty of hole-in-ones… and a few creative attempts along the way 😄

A special congratulations to Eva, who achieved her Grey Wolf Award 🐺👏
This is the highest award in Cub Scouts and a fantastic achievement that reflects her commitment, resilience, and growth – we’re incredibly proud!

We topped off the night the best way possible… with cake 🎂 and celebrations all round.

Moments like these are what Cubs is all about – building confidence, friendships, and lifelong memories in a fun, supportive environment.

⚓ Cardboard Ships Took Over the Tryboys Centre Tonight! 🚢

Tonight our Geelong Cub Scouts transformed the hall at the Tryboys Centre into a giant cardboard shipyard.

Armed with boxes, tape and a lot of imagination, the Cubs worked together to design and build their own ships — complete with masts, battle stations and plenty of creative engineering!

There were laughs, teamwork, problem solving and a lot of proud smiles when the ships were finally launched.

This is what Cub Scouts is all about — helping kids build confidence, friendships and practical skills while having a heap of fun.

🌞 Back to school… but the fun doesn’t have to stop! 🌞

As the school holidays wrap up, many parents are looking for something positive, active and confidence-building for their kids to enjoy during the term.

At 1st Geelong Scout Group, Cub Scouts and Scouts are all about:
🏕️ Outdoor adventures
🤝 Making new friends
🔥 Learning teamwork & resilience
📵 Getting kids active and away from screens

We’re excited to be returning for Term 1 and currently have limited vacancies in both our Cub Scout and Scout units.

📚 Term 1 restart dates:
• Cub Scouts – Tuesday 3 February, 6:30pm
• Scouts – Wednesday 4 February, 6:30pm

✨ New families are welcome — and kids can try Scouting for 3 weeks before committing.

✨ 2025 Wrap-Up | 1st Geelong Cub Scouts ✨

What an amazing year it’s been for our 1st Geelong Cub Scouts!
From learning new skills, building friendships, tackling challenges, earning badges, cooking, camping, knot-tying, teamwork games and more — our Cubs have had a HUGE year of fun, growth, and adventure.

We wrapped up our final night for 2025 with a Christmas-themed celebration filled with festive activities and plenty of laughs… capped off with a friendly game of cricket to end the night! 🏏🎄
A perfect way to finish a fantastic year together.

A massive thank you to our leaders, parent helpers, and families who support the group each and every week. Your energy and commitment make our Cubs program such a positive and welcoming place.

We hope everyone has a safe and happy Christmas break — and we can’t wait to see our Cubs back for another year of adventures in 2026! 🌟

🌲 District Cub Scout Camp Wrap-Up! 🌧️☀️

What an awesome weekend our Cubs had at the Portarlington Bayside Caravan Park! From the moment we arrived at Gate 4 on Saturday morning, the adventure was on!

Despite a bit of wet weather, the Cubs smashed through a huge list of activities — hiking with backpacks on, beach play (and a pod of Dolphins!!), night games, a miniature train ride, and even hatchet throwing and water rockets. 💦🎯🚂

A massive thank you to the parents who came early on Sunday to help pack up, and an extra shout-out to those who took tents home to dry. Your support keeps these camps running smoothly! 🙌

Meals were a hit too, from the hiking lunch to dinner at the hotel, breakfast at camp, and a classic Sunday BBQ to finish things off. 🔥🌭

The Cubs showed huge spirit all weekend — rain jackets, smiles, teamwork and all.

Great job everyone, and thanks Wayne for organising another fantastic camp!

🎉 Exciting News for 1st Geelong Scout Group!

On Friday night at the Region Annual Reports and Presentation event, 1st Geelong Scout Group was honoured with the Region Development Award 🏆

This award recognises our growth in membership and the contributions our Scouts, Leaders, and families make to the wider Scouting community. While the perpetual trophy stays with the Region, we’re proud to receive our own commemorative plaque — and a $700 award prize — which will be displayed proudly at our hall.

A huge thank you to all our members, leaders, and families who make 1st Geelong such a vibrant, welcoming, and growing Group. 🌿💚
