🧶 Jill’s Big Knitting Adventure: A Morning to Remember 🧶

What. A. Morning. 💕

Jill turned up absolutely buzzing with excitement — so excited she could barely sleep the night before. She couldn’t wait to come, meet everyone and spend the morning surrounded by yarn and good company.

There were chats, laughs, yarn discussions (serious ones), pattern conversations, new friendships and enough knitting enthusiasm to make Jill wonder if she’d finally found her people.

And yes… Jill got to meet the knitting experts — including the wonderfully talented Melissa, fresh from her big wins at the CWA Exhibition. Jill may or may not have spent time admiring award-winning knitting up close and pretending she wasn’t completely impressed 😍🧶

But what Jill loved most? The people.

So many friendly faces, warm conversations and a whole room full of people happily knitting together for a wonderful cause — creating squares that will become blankets for our local community ❤️

Current status of Jill:
🧶 Inspired
🧶 Slightly obsessed with everyone she meet
🧶 Already wondering when the next knitting catch-up is
🧶 Hoping there might be scones next time 👀

🧶 Eeeeek… only ONE more sleep until World Knit in Public Day! 🎉 Jill is ridiculously excited and would LOVE to see lots of friendly faces there! Come join us - because everything is better with yarn and good company! 🧵💕

🧶 UPDATE: Jill is now EVEN MORE excited! 🧶

Why? Because we can now confirm that Central Nights member Melissa will be joining us for World Knit in Public Day — and Jill is beside herself 😍

You may remember Melissa from our recent CWA Exhibition, where she took out Aggregate in Knitting and the major award for Best in Handicraft for her stunning knitted jumper (yes, the one that had everyone quietly thinking “I could never…” 😅).

Naturally, Jill has immediately upgraded her plans for the morning.

Jill’s updated to-do list:
🧶 Knit in public (obviously)
🧶 Casually sit near Melissa and absorb knitting wisdom
🧶 Ask at least one knitting question
🧶 Admire award-winning handiwork
🧶 Attempt a subtle selfie with knitting greatness 📸😉

Melissa will be there knitting away and happy to chat, answer questions and share tips — whether you’re an experienced knitter or someone who still occasionally mutters “where did I drop that stitch?”

And of course, fellow Central Nights member and President Deb will also be there, looking forward to meeting everyone, sharing a little about CWA and Central Nights, and there may even be a few show bags for the first lucky attendees 🎁

💙 Come for the knitting, stay for the company, and maybe — just maybe — end up in Jill’s selfie.

Over the next few days, the annual CWA Victoria conference will be taking place, and each year an organisation is chosen to be supported. This year, that organisation is Helping Hands and their wonderful food pantry.

We’re so proud to share this photo of the groceries our branch has purchased for Helping Hands — but the truth is, this donation belongs to all of you too.

Every sausage bought at one of our sizzles, every delicious baked treat picked up at our market stalls, raffle tickets and all the little ways you support our branch truly add up. Your kindness, generosity, and ongoing support help us give back and make sure help reaches people in our community where it’s needed most.

So, from the bottom of our hearts — thank you. Thank you for supporting us, so we can support others 💙

🧶 Jill is VERY excited! 🧶Because she’ll be joining the CWA Geelong Group to celebrate World Knit in Public Day — and honestly… this is absolutely her kind of event! 💕

Jill LOVES knitting.

She loves the yarn, the patterns, the chats, the friendships and yes… probably a little showing off of her stitch tension 😉

She is VERY excited to get her needles out in public, have a knit, meet some lovely CWA women and enjoy a morning surrounded by fellow crafty humans. And the best bit? We’re knitting for a wonderful cause! ❤️

Bring along some 8 ply wool and a pair of 3.75mm or 4mm knitting needles and we’ll supply the pattern. Together, we’ll knit squares which will be joined together to create a blanket for distribution in our local community.

You’ll also have the chance to meet members of CWA, learn more about the work we do supporting vulnerable women and families in our community, and discover that while we do meaningful things — we have plenty of fun along the way too! 💙

No pressure — just come along for a knit, a chat and a few laughs. We’ll knit like there’s no tomorrow… or at least until someone says “just one more row” 😂

This National Volunteer Week, we’re celebrating the incredible members of our Geelong Central Nights Branch — a group of dedicated people who carve out time in busy lives to support vulnerable women and families in our community.

Whether it’s after work, between commitments, or at the end of a long day, our members show up with compassion, commitment and plenty of laughs along the way.

Thank you for the energy, heart and time you give to our branch and our cause. We appreciate every one of you. ✨

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mums, grandmas, and mother figures in our community.

We know today can also be a difficult day for many, and our thoughts are with those who may be missing loved ones or finding today hard.

WOW… what an amazing result for our branch at this year’s Group Exhibition! 💛✨

Our members were represented across so many sections and we could not be prouder of the incredible talent, creativity and effort on display 👏

And how’s this for exciting…
Central Nights members took out the Best Exhibit awards in category after category — what an achievement!! 🤩

Our branch exhibit also proudly placed 🥉 3rd overall — such a fantastic result and a huge credit to everyone involved in bringing it together 🍋💛

But wait… it gets even better 👀

In the MAJOR awards — yes, the really big ones — Central Nights brought home 3 out of the 4 trophies!! 🏆🏆🏆

What an incredible reflection of the hard work, skills and passion of our branch.

And of course… we can’t finish without mentioning Jill 😂💁‍♀️
After achieving near celebrity status over the weekend, Jill was spotted enthusiastically making the rounds today and soaking up every minute of exhibition life. At this point, we suspect Jill may need her own meet-and-greet table next year 😉
