Welcoming Our Community Partners 💛

Towards the end of this term, we were delighted to welcome the Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor Tanya Milligan, to Gatton Kindergarten!

The children did such an amazing job proudly leading our daily Acknowledgement of Country, followed by a fun Easter song with actions. We were also excited to have Mayor Milligan help us draw our Easter Raffle — one of our biggest ones yet, raising much needed funds for our little not-for-profit Kindy🎉

Before the children had their turn, our Kindy President and Service Leader had a go at wearing the Mayor’s special chains — which brought lots of smiles and laughter! The children then each had the opportunity to try them on themselves, sparking plenty of curiosity and great conversations about leadership in our community. The children thought it was funny that Madam Mayor even came to our Gatton Kindy as a little girl herself!

A huge thank you to Mayor Tanya Milligan for spending time with us — it was such a special experience for our children and a moment we’ll all remember!

This past term, we have been fortunate to welcome the Lockyer Valley Libraries and the Laidley Community Centre to our service.
Miss Julianne, Miss Janella, and Miss Kirsty engaged the children in fun, interactive experiences to support early literacy. From acting out We’re Going on a Bear Hunt through the playground, to creating bear snacks, and enjoying Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? with songs and actions—there was so much learning through play!
These experiences are such a valuable way to develop children’s early literacy skills, and we are so grateful to our community partners for sharing their expertise in such engaging and meaningful ways.

🦕🌿 Learning Through Play 🌿🦕
Our Unit 1 children had lots of fun today using their fine motor skills and spatial awareness to carefully balance dinosaurs on paddlepop sticks—it was tricky work!

As their play evolved, the children began working together, using their social skills to collaborate, share ideas, and problem-solve as they created a bridge for their dinosaurs. It was wonderful to see them planning together and trying different ways to make it work.
This experience also supported the children’s spatial awareness, as they explored balance, positioning, and how objects fit together.
Provocations like these provide rich opportunities for our children to explore, think, and learn through play—encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and meaningful peer interactions.

We love seeing learning come to life in such playful and engaging ways!

One of the many exciting opportunities we offer at Gatton Kindy is our ‘Peace Buddies’ program where children are matched with Grade 5 students from Peace Lutheran Primary School, building a special mentoring friendship over the course of the year.

In Terms 1 and 3, the Grade 5 students visit Kindy for fortnightly sessions where they spend time engaging in activities and getting to know their younger buddies. In Terms 2 and 4, our Kindy children then head across to the school for excursions, where they participate in a variety of fun and educational activities on the school grounds.

Opportunities such as these are invaluable with helping children build confidence in new environments, develop social skills through interactions with older peers, and practise important skills such as communication, cooperation and problem-solving.

Programs like this also help reduce some of the uncertainty children may feel about starting school, as they become more familiar with the school grounds, routines and expectations in a relaxed and supportive way.

Hello all,

As it comes up to 3 weeks post Bike-A-Thon I would like to take this time to once again Thank all the Businesses, Families, Staff, Committee, Community and Sponsors of our 2025 Bike-A-Thon.

For your support, kindness and recognition towards not only the Gatton Kindergarten Families and Staff but the Children most of all and the ongoing support to keep the Kindy going for years to come.

This year was our BIGGEST fundraiser yet.

With your help, guidance, support and love we managed to raise a WHOPPING amount of over $15,500. It honestly brought me to tears being a part of such a huge successful event.

Being a part of the Kindy family for over 11 years myself it humbles me to know that the Kindergarten Staff, Committee, and ESPECAILLY Families have such a supportive network around the Greater Community. 🥰

From the bottom of all of us here at the Gatton Kindergarten we THANK each and every one that donated, shared, come along, brought and item and helped make the day a HUGE success.

The biggest thank you to the Committee that helped put the day together and a MASSIVE SHOUT out to Jo Cook that took charge of the event, to Ash & Colby for the hands-on help and also helping and supporting Jo and I behind the scenes along the way.

Saturday found the Staff, Committee, & families all taking part in the Gatton Kindy's Annual Bike-A-Thon, Fete & Open Day event. ☺️

The Bike-A-Thon is the Kindy's BIGGEST Fundraiser each and every year, every year it looks a little different and brings in some new companies. These companies either join in through a Sponsorship and or a Raffle prize.

This year our Major Sponsors and or Raffle Prize & Product donations were made by the Wonderful local businesses. These Businesses made up our GOLD Sponsorship Levels.

On behalf of the Gatton Kindergarten Staff, Children, Committee, Families, & future Families we THANK YOU. From the bottom of our hearts & with the depths of our souls, we Thank you.
