A Psychologist, local business owner and a proud dog dad to three, Luke from Yankalilla is one of this year’s volunteer ambassadors.

With experiences in disability and the aged care sector, Luke was looking for a way to give back to the community when he began volunteering at SAAS.

“Joining SAAS as a volunteer has given me the chance to learn life-saving skills and maintain a sense of calm in high-pressure situations. Every shift is different, and there is an incredible sense of fulfillment in knowing that my training can make a real difference in someone’s worst moment,” says Luke.

“I want to show young people that volunteering is the essential 'next step' in their journey, providing them with crucial skills,” he says.

I am so proud to be a part of the amazing team at Yankalilla! I have been part of the volunteers for just over 2 years and all I can say is I wish I joined up sooner!
I have learnt so much in such a short time. Going in with little knowledge with anything medical, I have come out with an abundance of confidence in being an Ambulance Officer. I have my amazing team and educators to thank for all that I have learnt.

I have 4 beautiful children and a partner that fully support everything that I do - and that makes it all worth while! They have the same excitement and enthusiasm as I do when I put the uniform on. I couldn’t ask for anything more!

I’m excited to embark on this new adventure and sharing my experiences. SA Ambulance Service
