🎃 TRICK OR EAT! A little extra kindness this Hiltonween!

We love it when someone in our community comes to us with an idea, and even more when we can work together to bring it to life!

Local resident Louisa has brought us Trick or Eat, an idea she was involved with in London, and we're giving it a go in Hilton this Halloween!

The idea is simple. While the kids are out trick-or-treating, families can bring along a non-perishable food item to leave at participating houses. The kids still get their usual treats, and together we can collect some much-needed donations for St Pat's in Fremantle.

Two new community ideas are coming to Hiltonween this year! 🎃

One of the things I love most about Hilton is how a simple idea from a neighbour can turn into something special when others jump in to help.

This year, local residents have come forward with two wonderful initiatives, and our community is working together to make them happen!

🍬 Hiltonween Lolly Drop

Some streets get absolutely swamped with trick-or-treaters, so why not share the load? We’re collecting donated lollies to distribute to households expecting big crowds, with C&Co Real Estate kindly jumping on board as a collection point.

🥫 Trick or Eat

What if trick-or-treating could also be an opportunity to give back? Another resident has suggested collecting non-perishable food donations along Halloween routes, with everything going to St Pat’s to support the important work they do in our community.

Both ideas started with someone thinking, what if we tried this? And now neighbours are putting their hands up to help make it happen.

That’s my favourite kind of community. People sharing ideas, finding others who are keen and working together to bring them to life.

🎃 HELP KEEP HILTONWEEN SWEET! 🍬👻

Every Halloween, hundreds of little ghosts, witches and monsters hit the streets of Hilton in search of treats!

We know some streets, particularly around Rennie Crescent, get absolutely smashed with trick-or-treaters, and keeping up with demand can get expensive!

We also know plenty of families are out trick-or-treating themselves, rather than staying home to hand out lollies.

So this year, we’re trying something new! 🕷️

🍭 HILTONWEEN LOLLY DONATIONS 🍭

If you’d like to help spread the Halloween spirit, you can drop off a bag or two of individually wrapped lollies at C&Co Real Estate.

We’ll collect the donations and distribute them to homes in the busiest trick-or-treating areas during the week of Halloween.

It’s a simple way to share the load, support the households that welcome hundreds of kids, and make sure there’s plenty of Halloween magic to go around!

🎃 Hiltonween is coming! 👻

A little early heads-up so everyone can start getting ready for Halloween in Hilton!

This year, Hilton Precinct will be hosting a disco and games at Meerilinga from 5pm, while our friends at Mumma Bee and C&Co Real Estate will have festivities and food happening too.

We won’t be doing a trick-or-treat house map this year. The kids always seem to find their way to the spooky streets and decorated houses anyway!

We’ll share more details closer to the event, but wanted to get the date on everyone’s radar so you can start planning costumes, decorations and treats.

The City of Fremantle is reviewing its Health Local Laws, and this is one of those consultations that covers a lot more of everyday life than the name might suggest.

These are the local laws covering things like sanitation, housing, waste and food refuse, keeping animals, pest control, infectious diseases, lodging houses and some types of businesses.

Importantly, no changes are being proposed yet.

The City is first asking the community to look at the existing Health Local Laws and share what you think. That feedback will help Council decide whether the laws should be updated, repealed or left as they are.

Public art in Hilton – an update 🎨

If you’ve been following this one for a while, you’ll know Hilton has had public art funding sitting there for a number of years, and Hilton Precinct has been regularly asking what’s happening with it and when we might actually see it spent in Hilton.

So, an update: the project is moving along.

The City is currently developing the project brief and a working group will be formed to help shape what comes next.

We know there will be at least one permanent artwork, with the possibility of temporary works as part of a broader creative art trail. The brief won’t prescribe exactly what the artwork should be, with artists instead given parameters and opportunities for community involvement throughout the process.

Potential locations are also being explored, although these still require the relevant approvals.

The City advised that the project brief was expected to be ready in early October, followed by the first working group meeting to discuss it.

We’ve been following this funding for a long time, so we’ll keep following the project too and share updates as it progresses. 🎨
