Sign up to save the date! Our next flagship revegetation project is FUNDED! πŸ‘πŸŒ³πŸšœπŸƒ

We’re delighted to share that the median strip at the intersection of Hope St and Nannine Ave in White Gum Valley will be the official Valley Verges project for 2026 – the Hope St Island Revegetation Project.

Our committee has been busy in the background getting approvals and securing funding to make our mission possible. Most importantly, thanks to investments and support from key local and State government organisations we can ensure the community can participate in this project for free!

Starting in August, we’ll be hosting on-site education workshops and busy bees so you can get hands-on knowledge on how to transform your verges into thriving biodiversity playgrounds. You’ll also contribute to a new demonstration native verge garden for the community as you learn!

Keen to get involved in our Hope St Island Revegetation Project? Sign up to our email newsletter to get notified for these free-to-attend sessions: https://mailchi.mp/e7e38f5cd4ba/valley-verges-email-newsletter

This project wouldn’t be possible without the financial and in-kind support of the Let’s Grow Grant Program; The City of Fremantle; Fremantle Ports; WA Landcare Network; Nature Based Play; and our dedicated volunteer committee (Dylan, Franc, Jaimie, Kavi, Loren, and Rosie).

We’re upgrading the northern part of Booyeembara Park and inviting community feedback on the draft concept designs. Booyeembara Park is one of Fremantle’s most unique and valued public open spaces. Classified as one of three Regional Parks within the City, "Boo Park"

🌱 BIG NEWS, WHITE GUM VALLEY!
We are so excited to share that Nannine Common Inc has been awarded a $7,500 City of Fremantle Community Grant to deliver the White Gum Valley Edible Landscape & Wildlife Habitat Project! πŸŽ‰
This one belongs to all of you. Thank you for being part of this community. πŸ’š

🌧️ We're starting in Makuru
In the Noongar calendar, Makuru β€” June and July β€” is the season of fertility and renewal. The rains come, the earth softens, and the land is ready to receive new growth. We couldn't have chosen a more perfect time to begin, on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja.
There is something deeply right about planting in Makuru. 🌿

Here's what we're building together:
πŸ₯• Five raised vegetable garden beds β€” free for the whole community

🌳 Stone fruit and nut trees β€” food, shade, and fodder for our Carnaby's Cockatoos

🐦 A copper bird waterer β€” supporting the endangered Carnaby's Cockatoo along its White Gum Valley feeding corridor

πŸͺ§ Community signage β€” handcrafted by the Gosnells Women's Shed

COME JOIN US πŸ‘‡
🌿 BUSY BEE β€” Saturday!

πŸ“… Saturday 4th July | 9.00am – 11.00am

πŸ“ Nannine Common, White Gum Valley

Bring warm layers and your enthusiasm β€” the rest we've got covered!
πŸ“‹ COMMITTEE MEETING

πŸ“… Monday 6 July | 4.30pm – 5.30pm

πŸ“ CoLab1, SHACC, White Gum Valley

All members welcome β€” come hear the full project update and have your say.
