✨ One Year On ✨

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since The Rural Vet Mob officially came to life. What started as an idea, a deep love for animals, and a determination to stand alongside remote Aboriginal communities has grown into something bigger than we ever imagined.

In just 12 months, we’ve walked the red dirt, sat around campfires, treated hundreds of dogs and cats, delivered education programs in schools, and—most importantly—built trust and connection with the people who welcomed us into their communities. We’ve laughed with kids, shared stories with Elders, and seen firsthand the difference that care, compassion, and respect can make.

This isn’t just about vet work. It’s about listening, learning, and walking together. It’s about the people, the animals, and the relationships that make communities strong.

To everyone who has supported us—whether by donating food, volunteering time, or simply cheering us on—thank you. You’ve been part of this journey from day one.

Here’s to our first year—and to many more to come. 🐾

A huge thank you to all the incredible Vet Clinics and Hospitals who have stood behind The Rural Vet Mob! 🐾💛

Whether it’s been by letting your amazing veterinarians volunteer their time or by supplying us with the vital stock and equipment we need – your support has made all the difference.

We simply couldn’t do what we do out in remote communities without you. From the whole team (and every wagging tail and happy paw you’ve helped) – thank you! 🙌🐶🐱

An amazing donation from KONG Company! 🐾

These KONGs aren't just fun toys – they'll make a real difference. Community dogs can take one home, and they’ll also help us during vet exams and medication by keeping dogs calm and distracted. Thank you, KONG, for supporting our mob! 💛

In April, The Rural Vet Mob headed west to Oak Valley — and were deeply honoured to be invited to see, visit and work on the land of Maralinga.

With its powerful history, Maralinga is a place of both deep sorrow and strength. Between 1952 and 1963, atomic weapons were tested here by the British, with the agreement of the Australian Government. After years of rehabilitation, the land was formally returned to its Traditional Owners, the Tjarutja people, in 2009.

We were invited to set up in the original Maralinga Hospital — you’ll see a glimpse of it in the video below.

There’s never a dull moment when you’re on Country with The Rural Vet Mob — always plenty going on behind the scenes. We’ve been flat out lately and a little behind in posting, but we’ll be back on track soon, sharing more stories from the road.

If you ever get the chance, we highly recommend visiting this extraordinary place with — it’s something you’ll never forget.

As part of our education program, we spend time yarning with local kids about how to care for dogs and cats—and how to respect and protect local wildlife too.

In Ceduna, Min and the children got hands-on, baking homemade dog biccies and decorating dog collars to give to their furry mates. 🐾

It’s all about connection, learning, and having a bit of fun along the way. These moments matter—and we’re proud to be a small part of the journey. 💛

We’ve been a bit quiet on here since the end of last year—but don’t be fooled, we’ve still been out doing what we do best.

In January, we visited homelands around Ceduna, and last month Bindee was back in Yalata, continuing to build trust and provide care.

And now we’re on the road again. We headed off this past Saturday and we’ll keep you posted from the ground over the coming days plus there will be a January catch up soon. Stay tuned!

Today, on World Veterinary Day, we want to take a moment to recognise all the incredible veterinarians who have supported The Rural Vet Mob.

From those who have given up their time to come out on community with us, to those who have backed us with donations, advice, and encouragement — we couldn't do what we do without you.

A special thank you to:
Dr Tony Atyeo
Dr Jessica Scrivan
Dr Meghan Thomas
Dr Jo Powell
Dr Gayle Kothari
Dr Amy Hardwick
Dr Jacqueline Brew

Your skills, heart, and generosity make a world of difference — not just to the animals, but to the people who love them and importantly to us.

**World Veterinary Day**

Today, we stand shoulder to shoulder with every vet, vet nurse, and volunteer who makes a difference — from the biggest city hospitals to the smallest, dustiest communities.

We know what it takes.
The long drives.
The tough calls.
The early mornings and late nights.
The heart it takes to show up, time and time again, because you know it matters.

Today, we celebrate all of us — the ones who care, who keep learning, who keep turning up no matter where the road leads.

Happy World Veterinary Day.
Proud to be part of this mob.

🐾 Thank You, Pets Domain Pt Augusta! 🐾

A big thank you to Pets Domain, Pt Augusta, for your ongoing support and generosity to The Rural Vet Mob. Thanks to your donations, we were able to pass on lots of food to the Oak Valley community, where it was greatly appreciated by both people and pets alike.

Meet Wh**ey, one of the community dogs who will be enjoying the extra yummy food. Your contributions make a real difference, and we couldn’t do this without you. 💚

💚 A Huge Thank You to Wombaroo! 💚

We want to give a big shoutout to Wombaroo for their generous donations to The Rural Vet Mob. Thanks to your support, we were able to supply the Oak Valley community with emergency milk replacers, ensuring animals in need could be cared for.

Here’s Sarah showing her appreciation for the much-needed supplies. Moments like these remind us of the power of community and generosity. Thank you, Wombaroo, for making this possible! 🐾

🐾 Out West with No Name 🐾

Last week, the team headed way out west to visit the Oak Valley community in South Australia. While we were there, we met a very special local—"No Name," the community dog who loves showing visitors her favourite walking trails.

She took the lead, guiding Dr. Megan and Veterinary Nurse Min around like a pro! 🐕💚 Moments like these remind us how much animals bring communities together, and we’re so glad to have made a new four-legged friend.
