We’re at West Footscray Bunnings raising funds for our monthly community dinners with, by and for q***r forcibly displaced folk 🤎 If you’re around West Footscray today, come say hi 👋🏾 and if you can’t say hi and buy a sausage, you can still donate to our fundraiser - reach out to find out how! Every dollar counts ☺️

We are so humbled to be a finalist within the initiative of the year/inclusive org category in the people’s choice awards! We are so incredibly grateful to the folks who sustain and support us to create safe enough spaces For neuroq***r folks esp those of the global majority.

The other orgs in the category are such incredible initiatives and we’re so honoured to be in their company 🙌🏾

Having spaces to connect to and engage with our joy and other folks joy as a libratory practice is one of our founding values as an org. It’s also one of the ways we fuel our continuing resistance, of imperialism, colonial structures, capitalistic practices and genocidal actions.

Our donation based joy cafe is a way we create space for these joy practices and our next one is in person on the 30th of March from 6pm - 7pm in Footscray.

We will be creating art together, listening to music and sharing within a small group of 6 people. Register today to join us on the 30th 🧡

Here’s another way we’ve considered power, accessibility and safe enough in our space when setting it up:

How we welcome people to TIF is one the most important ways we strive to show participants that they belong, are amongst their community and are supported by our teams! And so when we first saw the incredibly tall and looming reception desk in the lounge room during the inspection, we just knew that it had to be cut down to remove the ableist and power dynamic perpetuating barrier!

After quite a bit of sawing, we’re pretty chuffed with the end result and our so is our team who are ready to welcome you into our new home🫶🏾

Some behind the scenes of our move which would have not been possible without the volunteers who helped us move, set up, clean, arrange, re-arrange, re-re-arrange, paint, cut, and so much more to have us moved in over a weekend! We are so incredibly grateful to our community for supporting us and creating such a gorgeous space 🫶🏾

What does creating a sensory safer environment look like at TIF? It’s measuring and cutting strips of upcycled fabric to cover almost all 22 of our eye wateringly bright fluorescent lights panels 🫣

We’re excitingly setting up our new home to continue to be the low sensory and connection focused environment for our team, participants and community that we’re known for 🧡

Sneak peaks coming soon! 👀

We wanna thank everyone who has helped us pack so far!

Not pictured: the INCREDIBLE amounts of packing and boxing up our wonderful AJ has done behind the scenes 📦
