URGENT - Pleaase contact the people below to voice your complaint and stop this cull.
Cull continues this weekend Saturday 29th.
I have only just found out this evening that Mulwaree High School in Goulburn is culling Kangaroos.
Letter sent out from the school to parents in comments.
Residential area residents, who love the Roos, weren’t informed. I have a witness that has seen them dragging dead kangaroos in plain site to the hole. This witness has a lot more to the story if anyone can take this on. She is happy to talk.
The residents are very upset. There is a disabled facility, residence, etc on the fence line and they called the school and were told it wasn’t necessary to inform residents.

MYTH: KANGAROOS ARE OVERABUNDANT
In the past, I’ve searched for a definition of overabundant in relation to kangaroos. Exactly how many kangaroos constitutes ‘overabundant’? I couldn’t find an answer. There is no scientific definition or number of ‘overabundant’ kangaroos.
Recently, an article was published which shone some light on what overabundant means in terms of kangaroos. The article began: ‘Native animals, while dear to our hearts, are sometimes in conflict with humans when they compete for food, water, refuge and space. When this happens, the terms overabundant, impact causing or problematic may be used.’ This article implied that kangaroos are overabundant if we move into their habitat, and they try to co-exist with us in their habitat. Apparently if we move into their habitat, which they’ve enjoyed for over 25 million years, kangaroos are competing with us for food, water, refuge and space. Another definition of overabundant comes from Professor Corey Bradshaw (Flinders University of South Australia): ‘Basically, it comes down to a handful of lobbyists and other squeaky wheels defining anything they deem to be a nuisance as “overabundant”, irrespective of its threat status, ecological role, or purported impacts. It is, therefore, entirely subjective, and boils down to this: “If I don’t like it, it’s an overabundant pest”.

On this World Kangaroo Day, our team at The Center for a Humane Economy give thanks to Nike, PUMA Group, Sokito, Diadora, and New Balance for doing their homework and choosing to end their use of kangaroo leather in soccer cleats/boots. The commercial kill of kangaroos in Australia is inhumane, and according to ASN Bank - the Netherlands-based company that de-listed adidas from its financial universe, it's unsustainable. Thank you to the global leaders who have chosen ethics over profit.

The Kangaroo Con: The Truth Behind a Cruel, Unsustainable Industry

Millions of kangaroos are shot each year in the world’s largest commercial slaughter of land-based wildlife. In response to international criticism, Australian Governments developed methods to count kangaroos, generate population estimates and allocate commercial quotas. These methods are flawed. The figures don’t make sense. They often defy science and logic. Government management programs collapse under scrutiny.

Kangaroos have become visually extinct in many areas and numbers have crashed since the 1970s. Kangaroo populations scientifically classified at risk of extinction are killed by the commercial industry. Meanwhile, government figures create the illusion of sustainability.

Meticulously researched and drawing upon 14 years of data obtained via Freedom of Information requests, The Kangaroo Con reveals the ugly truth of manipulated figures and reckless endangerment of kangaroo populations by a profit-driven commercial industry led by the Australian Government.

Happy World Kangaroo Day. Please share this meme to remind people that kangaroos are a national icon. Kangaroos are not food. They are not shoes. Australia should treasure kangaroos as a unique aspect of our identity, not to mention beautiful sentient beings. The fact that Australia kills millions of kangaroos each year for a profit-driven industry, for greed, is shameful.

Male and female kangaroos are killed by a commercial industry which sells kangaroo meat, body parts, fur and leather. Female kangaroos can have dependent young. The dependent pouch joeys or young-at-foot joeys are bashed to death by commercial shooters. Often the young-at-foot joeys flee in fright when their mothers are shot. These joeys will die slow, painful deaths due to starvation or exposure. Some may be killed by foxes or other animals. The commercial killing of kangaroos is cruel and unsustainable. In South Australia, around 40%-50% of the kangaroos killed by commercial shooters are female. Shooters don't need to record the number of babies killed and thrown away as waste. No one knows the true extent of the cruelty inflicted on these animals.
