What a wonderful morning at Electric Spur!

Thank you to everyone who joined us to plant for wildlife, learn from Daniel Ross’ Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, and help care for this special place.

This event is funded by Melbourne Water and the Australian Government’s Urban Rivers and Catchments Program, with the support of Banyule City Council and the Darebin Creek Management Committee.

What could the future of Darebin Creek look like?

Over the past semester, master’s students from the University of Melbourne’s Sustainable Urbanism course have been reimagining parts of the Darebin Creek corridor, responding to Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country, local ecosystems, surrounding neighbourhoods and our changing climate.

Led by Professor Alex Felson, join us at the Gleeson Centre to explore their final designs, hear from the students, and discover innovative ideas from the next generation of landscape designers.

If you could redesign Darebin Creek, what would you change?

🕐 1–6pm, Thursday 11 June

Join us along beautiful Darebin Creek for a morning of learning, creativity and community connection 🌿💧

We’ll be restoring habitat in Bundoora Park by planting mid-storey shrubs to help strengthen the creek’s wildlife corridor and create vital stepping stones for local species.

We’re also excited to be joined by OzFish for a hands-on ‘Fish Hotel’ building workshop, supporting aquatic life as part of the Darebin Creek Habitat Project 🐟

A nest box is more than just a box - it’s a home 🏡🌿

But like any home, nest boxes require ongoing maintenance, monitoring and care to remain safe and healthy for the wildlife that depends on them.

Through our Rebuild for Wildlife campaign, your support helps us not only install new nest boxes, but also maintain existing homes for native species across the creek corridor 💚

Nest box = home
Maintenance + monitoring = a healthy home for wildlife

Give $30 today to help us maintain healthy homes

From Sorry to Action, this year’s National Sorry Day theme, reflects expectations that governments take responsibility through tangible, measurable change.

We owe it to the survivors who are left – and the families of survivors who have passed – to take swift, meaningful action to address past wrongs and honour the memory of all who gave evidence to the inquiry.

The urgency of acting now, to support elderly survivors in their last years and decades, cannot be overstated.

Survivors need:
• culturally safe and affordable aged care, health and healing services
• prioritised access to the records that hold their histories and stories
• access to redress, regardless of the state or territory they were removed from
