Following the recent exhibition at QVMag celebrating 100 years since the foundation of the Alexander Racquet Company in Norwood, The Over the Hill Social Tennis Club liaised with the curator, Burcu Keane, to find some viable Alexander racquets which could be used for a nostalgic hit.
Burcu enthusiastically took this on an they looked for a suitable heritage court and setting on which to stage it. They deemed Evandale to be perfect with the green setting and the heritage club house.
Unfortunately the racquets were a bit too fragile to use for more than a few hits but enough to get a feel for how they felt and to get some video and photography for the media and QVMag archives.
They then hunted up some appropriate period tennis gear and celebrated with a glass of Pimms and cucumber sandwiches.
