Eumundi Repair Cafe 13/5/26 @9.30am Eumundi CWA Hall

Mayor Rosanna Natoli will join us next time on 13/5/26 all with people with sewing machines and all kinds of tools to help you make repairs so you don't need to throw away to landfill sites. Sometimes it's just a simple tweak needed! The Cafe is free and so is the morning tea. The Bake House Eumundi donated a beautiful cake and sausage rolls last time. We also had other food including gluten free.

Future Repair Cafes will be at the CWA Hall every second Thursday starting from 11/6/26 at 10am-2pm.

Closure of Venues Survey - LETS REOPEN WAN'DIN'IN

Ted O'Brien has a survey out looking at how the community has lost access to venues recently. The survey seems more about nightclubs and how often you eat out etc. but it is also an opportunity to ask him to get Wan'din'in open again. Wan'din'in is the gallery behind the Museum was funded under the Regional Development Australia fund to build a community meeting space and gallery and it was purpose built for these uses. It has been used as a storage facility as we understand for over five years. It was supposed to be available for the community and it hosted small exhibitions of local artists when Wendy was the Manager.

We also had a visitor information service in Eumundi then and a community bus funded by The Imperial, not a bus to bring more tourists to the market. Its time efforts in Eumundi supported the community and the markets paid their own way.

With the closure of Solbar, The Station, and the loss of many other entertainment and hospitality businesses over the past year, it is clear the Sunshine Coast is facing a serious challenge.

We are drafting a submission to these recommendations. Please send any thoughts to [email protected]
The recommendation to the State Government is that Eumundi be joined with Nambour, taken out of Ninderry/Coolum and not become part of Noosa. No real analysis is given to justify this recommendation.

The Eumundi Residents Association (ERA) is launching a Repair Café to join the global movement that is encouraging repairing rather than throwing away.

THURSDAY 16/4/26, 11am-1.30pm
CWA Hall Eumundi.

At the launch, with advice and encouragement, we will have guests Dorothy and Cliff Gillingham, Co-founders of the Caloundra Repair Cafe that operate out of the Caloundra Community Centre.

Repair Cafés are free meeting places and they’re all about repairing things (together). In the place where a Repair Café is located, you’ll find tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need. On clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, crockery, appliances, toys, et cetera. You’ll also find expert volunteers, with repair skills in all kinds of fields.
Visitors bring their broken items from home. Together with the specialists they start making their repairs in the Repair Café. It’s an ongoing learning process. If you have nothing to repair, you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. Or you can lend a hand with someone else’s repair job. You can also get inspired at the reading table – by leafing through books on repairs and DIY. There are over 2,500 Repair Cafés worldwide.

The Bake House Eumundi is providing sausage rolls, spinach rolls and a cake!

At the gathering there will also be information on:

Providing an update on the Eumundi Community Centre proposal
Presenting a brief update on the forthcoming Eumundi Writers Festival 2026
Steps towards a Eumundi Ten Year Plan as discussed at the Placemaking workshop in 2023 and was part of the ERA Planning Scheme submission
Gathering views on the need for free Resident Only parking in Eumundi
Both Local Councillors covering the Eumundi and District have been invited.

Repair Café is here to help you fix your broken items. Join our community of skilled volunteers and get your belongings repaired in a sustainable way.

Eumundi Car-parking

When the "placemaking" Council project was done (as if we needed Eumundi made into a "place"), the Council apparently did extensive traffic and parking management assessments before they removed so many car-parking spots. They decided what they did wouldn't be a problem. Did you see the traffic last Wednesday? The highway was jammed. I wonder if the Council is monitoring the pedestrian crossings as they promised they would? Yes we had hold ups before the Memorial drive destruction, but now it's ridiculous. The Council said they would remove the crossings if necessary. Let's just hope they won't force traffic lights on us next. The Eumundi Residents Association plans to work with other community organisations to monitor this and other impacts of the markets on Eumundi residents. Contact [email protected]
