The Eumundi Residents Association (ERA) is launching a Repair Café to join the global movement that is encouraging repairing rather than throwing away.
THURSDAY 16/4/26, 11am-1.30pm
CWA Hall Eumundi.
At the launch, with advice and encouragement, we will have guests Dorothy and Cliff Gillingham, Co-founders of the Caloundra Repair Cafe that operate out of the Caloundra Community Centre.
Repair Cafés are free meeting places and they’re all about repairing things (together). In the place where a Repair Café is located, you’ll find tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need. On clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, crockery, appliances, toys, et cetera. You’ll also find expert volunteers, with repair skills in all kinds of fields.
Visitors bring their broken items from home. Together with the specialists they start making their repairs in the Repair Café. It’s an ongoing learning process. If you have nothing to repair, you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. Or you can lend a hand with someone else’s repair job. You can also get inspired at the reading table – by leafing through books on repairs and DIY. There are over 2,500 Repair Cafés worldwide.
The Bake House Eumundi is providing sausage rolls, spinach rolls and a cake!
At the gathering there will also be information on:
Providing an update on the Eumundi Community Centre proposal
Presenting a brief update on the forthcoming Eumundi Writers Festival 2026
Steps towards a Eumundi Ten Year Plan as discussed at the Placemaking workshop in 2023 and was part of the ERA Planning Scheme submission
Gathering views on the need for free Resident Only parking in Eumundi
Both Local Councillors covering the Eumundi and District have been invited.
