The Essendon Football Club Past Players & Officials Association (EFCPP&OA) was formed in 1953.

“The purposes of the Association are to encourage all qualifying persons to become members of the Association in order to:

- In strict confidence, assist members and/or members of their immediate family who may require assistance and support in times of personal difficulty.

- Foster a spirit of friend

ship, camaraderie and sense of common purpose between members through:
: Raising funds for the Association and its Trust
: Social functions
: Newsletters
: Maintenance of a Website relevant to past players, and
: Members Business Networking promotion

¬- Encourage a continuing relationship with the Essendon Football Club (EFC) to ensure that Association members receive ongoing benefits from the Club, including but not limited to invitations to Club functions and EFC matches.

- Wherever possible, work with the EFC to assist, preserve, maintain and market the history, heritage and public profile of the Club.”

Vale – Max Byers.
Max Byers was a utility player who arrived at Windy Hill from Hobart and played 7 games for Essendon in 962-1963. He was also an emergency in the 1962 premiership team.
Post -Essendon, Byers played/coached for Numurkah from 1964-1698 and later coached the Murray League junior side.

Vale Robert Dunlop

Robert Dunlop was a follower and forward from Rupanyup and played 27 games for EFC in 1960 and 1961. Robert played in every game in his first year in 1960, winning Essendon Best First Year Player award. He returned home to Rupanyup in 1962 and played there until 1968.

Bob was a half-back flanker from the North Essendon Methodists and played 34 games for Essendon.
Bob was a member of the Reserves’ premiership side in 1952.

Our Association to hear of the recent passing of David Starbuck.
A wingman, David played 13 games for EFC in 1970 and 1971. He was a member of the EFC Reserves premiership side in 1968.
Post-Essendon, David played with Coburg (1972 & 1973), Romsey (1974), Pascoe Vale (1975 -1979), Reservoir-Lakeside (1980-1982), and Woodend (1983 & 1984).

Vale Fred Gallagher- Fred played 84 games for EFC between 1952-1958. He started as a half-forward and then played full-forward. Career highlight was kicking twelve goals in a match.

Vale Paul Sproule
A talented half-forward, rover and centreman from Hobart, Paul debuted in 1968 and played a total of 60 games for EFC.
Paul also played 86 game for Richmond (1972 and 1975) and part of the 1973 and 1974 premiership sides.
Sproule went home to Tasmania to coach and then coached Richmond for a season in 1985.
Paul was an inaugural inductee in the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame and also a member of the Tasmanian Sporting Hall of Fame.
