Event #91 – 13/6/26

Event number 91 saw 31 participants turn out this morning and 10 volunteers. We welcomed 5 first timers to Esk; thank you for coming. We had people chasing their alphabet ‘O’ this morning and others collecting Wilson numbers. If you’re not sure what language I’m speaking download the parkrun app. There’s so many challenges to play with.

In first place today, was Jordan Sheather with a PB of 19:34, shaving 5 seconds off from last week. He tells us it’s his ‘all time’ PB. And he looked so comfortable doing it. Well done, Jordan. First female was Loz Eyton with a PB of 24:49. She joins us when she can and today pulled out a big one! Congrats Loz. With the soccer season starting up again there weren’t many ‘kids’ to be found; however, young Lenny Rowe did them proud in 3rd place and a time of 21:45. There were 12 PBs today and we congratulate Jordan Sheather, Paul Niebling, Tash McGrath, Lauren Eyton, Angelique Peters, Beth Addison Smith, Paul Aldridge, Katie Kubler, Alison Carlisle, Terry Smith, Akshatha Kishorkumar and Aaron Salisbury. Well done to all.

This week we thank our volunteers, Sammy Gollschewski, Katrina Crook, Amanda Dargan, Rosemary Schultz, Jet Brooker, Sharon Munro, Bronwyn Roberts, Stephen Barr, Catherine Wilkes and Dave Crook. Huge thanks to Catherine who doubled up doing both First Timers Briefing and photos. Check back later to see how awesome she makes us look!

Next week you all get a ‘day off’ due to the Esk Garden Fair using the course. If you need a parkrun fix you can visit Cormorant Bay parkrun, Yowie parkrun, Hidden Vale parkrun, Blackbutt parkrun or Gatton parkrun….

Thanks Legends, All positions are now filled. We are GOOD TO GO for Saturday 13th June.

Mid Week Callout: Main positions this week are a marshal at the Showgrounds and a tail walker. Additionally we could also do with a first timers welcome (filled) and a photographer (filled).

Thanks to all who came and joined us today. It was quite chilly this morning and many jumpers stayed on! Quite a few of us were in our maroon gear to celebrate Queensland Day.

A special big thank you to our volunteers today. Without you we cannot run. Thank you Nicola Miners, who not only did time keeping for us today, but also took photos. She was off to the Toogoolawah Show today so photos will come a little bit later. Next week we are very light on for vollies. We need every role except course checker, timer and tokens. Sticking your hand up early makes the co-ordinating the volunteer roster a lot easier....

Don't forget that the following week, the 20th, we don't run as the Esk Garden Fair are using the space. It's a great day so come along and enjoy the plants and fresh air.

Thanks all, the roster is looking full. If you'd still like to help out we'd love a photographer but we are good to 'run...

Thanks all, the roster is looking full. If you'd still like to help out we'd love a photographer but we are good to 'run' in the morning. In honour of Queensland Day we are encouraging you to turn out in your best Maroon gear.

On Saturday 29 August we will share the path with the 'Trek the Trail' group who are raising funds for cancer. They have a 1 or 2 day option if anyone is interested in joining them. We thank them for working with us in sharing the space.

Trek the Trail is back for 2026, inviting our community to take on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail while raising funds for the new Regional Cancer Centre. Whether you’re walking for yourself, someone you love, or your community, every step counts.

Stepping forward for a stronger tomorrow. Join us on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail for Trek the Trail 2026. Challenge yourself to raise essential funds for our new Regional Cancer Centre, where your impact is doubled by Darling Downs Health’s $10M match-funding commitment.

JUNE 20 we won't be holding Old Esk Railway Station Parkrun.
But we will still be running to catch a bargain at this HUGE one day event.
Will you be going for the Crinkle Creek Art corrugated garden art?
Or a dash for one of the many nurseries stock with the latest cultivars of plants.
You could walk through the other stalls of garden tools or garden art or
do the gentle stroll through the venue to one of 3 food courts on site.
As always, some of our regulars are volunteering. See, even when we don't parkrun, we still embody the parkrun ethos.
You could always visit one of the 4 other parkruns within an hours drive:
Cormorant Bay parkrun; Brisbane Valley Rail Trail parkrun at Blackbutt.
Gatton parkrun; and
Yowie parkrun in Kilcoy. Visit their pages for more info on courses.
