Today I had the privilege of attending a Platinum Wedding Anniversary celebration for a long-time Epping couple.

Seeing four generations of family gathered together was a powerful reminder that strong families are built on love, commitment, responsibility and mutual support. The example set by parents and grandparents, and the values they pass on, help shape not only a family’s future but also its lasting legacy.

Seventy years of marriage and four generations under one roof is a remarkable achievement, and a testament to the importance of family, companionship and dedication across generations.

Surrounded by family, friends, music, laughter and heartfelt wishes, it was a wonderful celebration of both a lifelong partnership and the enduring strength of family.

Wishing them continued health, happiness and many more precious moments with their loved ones.

If you’ve got old batteries, paint, gas bottles, motor oil or other household items that can’t go in your normal bin, the Community Recycling Centre is a great option for safe disposal.

It’s a free service for household waste and helps keep these items out of landfill.

It was a pleasure to attend the Multi-Cultural and Multi-Ethnic Gala at Sydney Olympic Park, representing Councillor Martin Zaiter - Lord Mayor, City of Parramatta and City of Parramatta.

The event brought together people from many cultural backgrounds, including communities with roots in China, Korea, Croatia, Romania, Pakistan, Thailand, Indonesia and many others. Through music, dance and cultural performances, participants proudly shared their traditions while celebrating the values that unite us all.

Australia’s multiculturalism is one of our greatest strengths. Events like this provide valuable opportunities to build understanding, respect and friendship between communities, while recognising the rich cultural diversity that helps make our society vibrant and inclusive.

Thank you to the organisers, performers and volunteers for creating such a wonderful celebration of unity in diversity.

We know everyone was excited for a huge night of food, shopping and community vibes, and we’re just as disappointed as you are 💔

Thank you to our amazing vendors, visitors and local community for your ongoing support and understanding — it truly means the world to us.

The Epping Weavers, Embroiderers and Spinners (the EWES) at the Epping Creative Centre brought the community together once again, with this year’s theme “Inspired by Nature – Winter” showcasing a beautiful collection of weaving, embroidery and fibre art creations.

For more than 40 years, this local community organisation has continued to preserve traditional crafts while inspiring residents through creativity, culture and connection. A big thank you to all the volunteers, artists and organisers who helped create such a warm and meaningful event.

It was also wonderful to see the exhibition supporting the H.A.R.K. (Health Assessments for Refugee Kids) program at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, combining community art with a great cause and helping support children and families in need.
