For Vicky, the greatest wish of all was to celebrate with family.

While receiving care at Hollywood Private Hospital, Vicky’s declining health made it difficult for her to leave hospital and spend time with her loved ones. Her wish was to attend a special afternoon tea at her son's home, bringing together family to celebrate not one, but three important birthdays — her daughter's, her grandson's, and her daughter-in-law's.

Thanks to Ambulance Wish Western Australia, this precious family gathering became possible.

Supported by our dedicated volunteer crew, Elizabeth, Jen & Tresna. Vicky was safely transported from hospital to her son's home, where she was able to share laughter, conversation, birthday celebrations and quality time with the people she loved most.

Sometimes the most meaningful wishes are not about travelling far or visiting famous destinations. They are about being present for life's special moments — celebrating milestones, creating memories, and enjoying the company of family when every moment together is precious.

Not every Ambulance Wish Western Australia journey is shared on social media. We respect the privacy of our wish recipients and their families and photos are always optional.

At Ambulance Wish Western Australia, we help terminally ill West Australians reconnect with family, revisit cherished places, attend important milestones, and create lasting memories during precious final stages of life.

Every wish is provided at no cost to families and is made possible through the generosity of our community and the dedication of our highly trained volunteers.

We are honoured to have helped make Vicky’s wish a reality, allowing her to celebrate these important family birthdays and create memories that will be treasured by her loved ones for years to come.

If you'd like to help create more special moments like Vicky’s, please consider donating.

Together, we can turn precious time into lasting memories.

Every wish tells a story, and every story helps us grow.

Peppi is excited to introduce Ambulance Wish Western Australia's new feedback cards, which will be provided to wish recipients and their families following the completion of a wish.

While our volunteers don't undertake wishes for recognition, receiving feedback from the people and families they have supported is incredibly meaningful. The kind words, memories and reflections shared by wish recipients remind our volunteers why they give their time, compassion and expertise to help terminally ill West Australians experience meaningful final moments.

The feedback we receive also plays an important role in helping us continually improve our service. Understanding what mattered most to families, what worked well, and how we can enhance the experience ensures we can continue delivering wishes with the highest level of care, dignity and professionalism.

Every message received is shared with the volunteer crew who fulfilled the wish, allowing them to see firsthand the impact they have made during such an important time in someone's life.

And we have another special plan for these messages...

At Ambulance Wish Western Australia Headquarters in Malaga, we have a large blank wall that we hope will soon be filled with positive messages, memories and reflections from wish recipients and their loved ones. We hope it will become a powerful reminder of why Ambulance Wish Western Australia exists and the difference our volunteers make every day.

Whether it's a few words, a favourite memory, or a reflection on what the wish meant to you and your family, we'd love to hear from you.

Thank you to every family who entrusts us with such precious moments. Your stories inspire us, guide us, and help us continue turning precious time into lasting memories.

Families whose final wish has been fulfilled by Ambulance Wish Western Australia are invited to share their experience and provide feedback via our online feedback form: https://ambulancewishwa.org.au/feedback/

For Vitorino, the greatest wish of all was simple — spending precious time surrounded by family.

While receiving care at Bethesda Hospital, Vitorino's health challenges made it difficult for him to visit his son's home and enjoy the comfort of being together with those he loved most. Thanks to Ambulance Wish Western Australia, that special family gathering became possible.

Supported by our dedicated volunteer crew — De, Emma and Melanie — Vitorino was safely transported from hospital to his son's home, where he was able to share quality time with family, create treasured memories and enjoy the warmth and connection that only being together can bring.

Sometimes the most meaningful wishes are not about travelling great distances or visiting iconic locations. They are about being present for life's simple but priceless moments — sharing stories, laughter, meals and companionship with the people who matter most.

Thank you to De, Emma and Melanie for helping make Vitorino's wish a reality and for providing compassionate care every step of the journey.

If you'd like to help create more special moments like Vitorino's, please consider donating.

For Christine, some of life's most treasured memories were made in the bushland near her home.

For many years, this special place was where family picnics were enjoyed, Mother's Day celebrations were shared and countless hours were spent surrounded by nature. Christine loved being amongst the trees, listening to birdsong and watching the local birdlife. It was a place that held generations of memories — first with her own children when they were young, and now with her daughter's children continuing the family tradition.

As Christine's health declined, returning to this much-loved location became impossible without assistance. Thanks to Ambulance Wish Western Australia and our dedicated volunteer crew, Jordan, Louise and Zoe, Christine was able to revisit the bushland that had brought her so much joy throughout her life.

Surrounded by family, she spent precious time in a place filled with happy memories, watching the birds she loved and reconnecting with the natural environment that had always brought her peace and comfort.

At Ambulance Wish Western Australia, we help terminally ill West Australians create meaningful final memories with the people and places that matter most. Whether it's revisiting a favourite location, returning home, attending a special event, or simply spending time somewhere that holds deep personal significance, every wish is unique and every moment is precious.

Every wish is provided at no cost to families and is made possible through the generosity of our community and the dedication of our highly trained volunteers.

If you'd like to help create more special moments like Christine's, please consider donating.

Together, we can turn precious time into lasting memories.

Christine’s final wish was not to visit a favourite place or return home — it was to attend one of the most important family moments of all: her son’s funeral.

While many wishes involve taking terminally ill West Australians to places filled with special memories, some wishes are about ensuring they can be present for significant family and life events. For Christine, being bed-bound and receiving palliative care at Royal Perth Hospital meant that attending her son’s funeral would only be possible with the support of Ambulance Wish Western Australia.

Thanks to our dedicated volunteer crew — Emma-Rose, Megan and Pat — Christine was able to leave hospital and be there to farewell her son, surrounded by family as they honoured his life and shared this deeply important moment together.

Our volunteers’ compassion, professionalism and care ensured Christine could focus entirely on what mattered most: being present with her loved ones during an incredibly difficult and meaningful time.

At Ambulance Wish Western Australia, we help terminally ill West Australians experience meaningful moments with family — whether that’s revisiting a cherished place, returning home, attending a milestone celebration, or, as in Christine’s case, being there for an important family farewell.

Every wish is provided at no cost to families and is made possible through the generosity of our community and the dedication of our highly trained volunteers.

If you’d like to help create more precious moments like Christine’s, please consider donating.

Together, we can turn precious time into lasting memories.

This National Volunteer Week, Ambulance Wish Western Australia would like to recognise and sincerely thank our incredible volunteers who selflessly dedicate their time, compassion, skills and experience to helping fulfil final wishes for terminally ill Western Australians.

Every wish completed is only possible because of the kindness and generosity of our volunteer crews, coordinators and supporters, who give so much of themselves to help create meaningful moments for wish recipients and their loved ones during some of life’s most difficult times.

Ambulance Wish Western Australia is proud to be a 100% volunteer-run organisation and remains the only Ambulance Wish charity in Australia without any paid staff. Quite simply, without our volunteers, Ambulance Wish Western Australia would not exist.

From attending wishes, preparing ambulances, supporting families, fundraising, community engagement and behind-the-scenes coordination — every volunteer plays a vital role in helping us provide dignity, compassion and connection at end of life.

This year’s National Volunteer Week theme is “Your Year to Volunteer”, recognising the important role volunteers play in strengthening communities and encouraging more Australians to get involved in causes that matter to them.

If you would like to help Ambulance Wish Western Australia fulfil final wishes for Western Australians, we would love to hear from you. Please visit our website at ambulancewishwa.org.au to express your interest in volunteering and becoming part of our compassionate community.

To each and every one of our volunteers: thank you for your kindness, dedication and unwavering commitment to our mission. The impact you make on the lives of Western Australian families is truly extraordinary.

This National Palliative Care Week, Ambulance Wish Western Australia proudly recognises the incredible work of palliative care teams, carers, volunteers and families who support people through some of life’s most important moments.

Palliative care is about far more than medical treatment. It is about dignity, comfort, connection, compassion and helping people live as fully as possible right to the end of life. One meaningful part of that care can be fulfilling a final wish.

This year’s campaign focuses on Big Questions. Real Answers and aims to make palliative care easier to understand by encouraging honest questions and offering clear, human answers. The campaign is expressed through three supporting themes:
* Living well, your way – focusing on comfort, quality of life, and staying connected to what matters;
* Conversation changes everything – showing how starting the conversation can reduce uncertainty and support better planning and care: and
* The heart of care – highlighting care that feels personal, safe and respectful for individuals and families.

At Ambulance Wish WA, we help create special moments for people in Western Australia who are living with a life-limiting illness and are unable to travel safely by conventional means due to their medical condition. Through the support of our trained volunteers, healthcare professionals and specially equipped ambulances, we help patients reconnect with the places, people and moments that matter most.

Whether it is visiting the beach one final time, attending a family gathering, seeing a beloved pet, revisiting a meaningful place or simply spending precious moments at home, these wishes can bring comfort, peace, closure and joy — not only for the wish recipient, but also for their loved ones.

We know that a final wish is never “just a trip.” It can provide emotional healing, restore a sense of identity and independence, reduce feelings of isolation, and create lasting memories for families during an incredibly difficult time.

Ambulance Wish WA supports people who:• Have a life-limiting illness;• Are medically unable to travel by standard transport or require medical assistance and support during their wish; and• Have a meaningful final wish that can be safely facilitated by our volunteer team.

As we celebrate Palliative Care Week, we thank the healthcare workers, palliative care teams and families who trust us to be part of these deeply personal journeys.

Yesterday, Ambulance Wish Western Australia was honoured to attend the Kalamunda Compassionate Communities Legacy Lantern Ceremony — a beautiful and moving event that brings people together to honour loved ones who have died, to grieve and to celebrate lives well lived.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers, Jennifer, Les and Sarah, for representing Ambulance Wish Western Australia and standing alongside the community at this special gathering.

As lanterns lit the evening, we took a moment to reflect on the lives of our wish recipients — those whose final wishes we were privileged to fulfil, and also those who sadly passed before their wish could be realised. Each person, each story, remains an important part of who we are.

Events like this remind us of the power of community, compassion and connection — values at the heart of everything we do.

We are grateful to Kalamunda Compassionate Communities and City of Kalamunda for creating such a meaningful space for remembrance, reflection and shared support.

Peppi the Numbat here 🐾

I’m feeling pretty proud today… our redesigned Ambulance Wish Western Australia leaflets have arrived!

These little leaflets share something really big — how we help make final wishes possible. They explain what we do, how to request a wish, and why these moments matter so much.

Final wishes aren’t just trips — they’re opportunities to reconnect, to revisit meaningful places, to spend precious time with loved ones, and to create lasting memories when time matters most. We’ve seen firsthand how a simple wish can bring comfort, dignity and even a sense of peace for wish recipients and their families.

One really important thing I want to share: please don’t wait too long to request a wish. The earlier we know, the more we can do to plan something truly special and make it happen safely.

If you, a loved one, or someone in your care might benefit from a final wish, take a moment to submit a request. These leaflets are a great place to start — and I’ll be making sure they get out into the community!

Because every wish matters 🐾

Collin’s final wish was simple but deeply meaningful — to walk his daughter down the aisle on her wedding day at Kings Park.

With the support of Ambulance Wish Western Australia, Collin was able to leave his bed st Fiona Stanley Hospital and be there for one of life’s most important moments. He proudly walked his daughter down the aisle, then spent the afternoon enjoying the wedding celebrations in the park, surrounded by family and friends, sharing laughter, stories, and precious time together.

Adding to the magic of the day, his daughter arrived in Wish Ambulance Tinesh, creating a truly special and memorable entrance for the ceremony.

This beautiful wish was made possible thanks to our dedicated volunteer crew — Kim, Melissa, and Gary — whose compassion, professionalism and care ensured Collin and his family could focus on what mattered most: being together.

At Ambulance Wish Western Australia, we help terminally ill West Australians experience meaningful moments with family — whether that’s attending a milestone celebration, revisiting a special place, or spending cherished time with loved ones in a setting they love.

Every wish is provided at no cost to families and is made possible through the generosity of our community and the dedication of our trained volunteers.

If you’d like to help create more moments like Collin’s, please consider donating.
Together, we can turn precious time into lasting memories.
