Help Me Fight for Answers for Bronwyn Winfield

For more than three decades, our family has lived with heartbreak, unanswered questions, and the pain of not knowing what happened to my sister, Bronwyn Winfield.

So there is no confusion this request is coming from me!

I am Bronwyn’s sister Kim Marshall and this is my request directly to you, the public.

Bronwyn’s disappearance remains an active cold case with NSW Police Missing Persons and Unsolved Homicide. Despite the passing years, our family has never stopped searching for answers, accountability, and justice.

I am now seeking support to attend and participate in the NSW Parliamentary Inquiry into Missing Persons and Unsolved Homicide Cases — an important opportunity to ensure Bronwyn’s case, and the voices of families like ours, are heard.

This inquiry represents more than a formal process. It is a chance to advocate for stronger investigations, better support for families, greater transparency, and renewed attention on unresolved cases that have devastated families across Australia.

Funds raised will directly assist with:

* Development of a new search tool for Search Dogs Sydney to use for the first time.
* Travel and accommodation costs to attend inquiry hearings and produce media material to share with family victims
* Advocacy activities and support
* Expert advice to prepare reward increase request and other case relevant activities
* Ongoing search and awareness activities for Bronwyn
* Community outreach and media engagement to keep Bronwyn’s story alive

For families of missing persons, time does not heal uncertainty. Every year without answers is another year of grief suspended in place.

I are determined to continue searching for Bronwyn and pushing for meaningful action — but I cannot do it alone!

Your support, whether through a donation or by sharing this campaign, helps keep pressure on systems to do better and reminds families like ours that we are not forgotten.

Most importantly, it helps keep Bronwyn’s name visible.

Someone knows what happened to devoted mother Bronwyn Winfield.

And until the truth is found, I am hopeful all our family will keep searching.

Last night was the darkest night ever experienced by Marine Rescue NSW.

Marine Rescue NSW volunteers answer the call for help 24/7 and last night six members from Marine Rescue Ballina did just that. They launched with a single mission, to save lives on the water and assist a yacht, reported to be in difficulty off the South Ballina break wall.

Tragically, two of our volunteers lost their lives during the response.

Marine Rescue NSW Commissioner Todd Andrews said the devastating loss is a solemn reminder of the risks faced by volunteers who serve their communities.

“These two men were serving their local community and have made the ultimate sacrifice to help others.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families and loved ones of the deceased, their fellow crew members, the brave radio operators who handled the difficult communications during the incident, the entire Marine Rescue NSW family and the wider Ballina community during this incredibly difficult time.

“We are supporting our volunteers and their families through professional counselling and chaplaincy support.

“We ask that the privacy of those involved and their families be respected during this difficult time,” Commissioner Andrews said.

Our thoughts go out to those affected by the tragic events unfolding in Jamaica and the surrounding areas. Search teams are en route as we speak and resources to assist with the long rebuilding ahead.

We wish all the USAR teams safe passage and safe searching. So that others may live.

Have you ever wondered what makes our dogs just that extra special?

It’s not their amazing training that they receive. It’s not the awesome places they get to visit or even the beautiful people they meet on their journeys.

Whilst they can wear their PPE, as Chilli is so majestically modelling, the secret to their success is their diet.

Just like any athlete, our dogs diets are strictly monitored and controlled. They are fed thanks to our relationship with Prime100. This ensure they are always at their best and has seen over the years a marked reduction in visits to the vet.

Thanks Prime100 for supporting our dogs to be the best dogs in the state.

We couldn’t have said it better.

✨Forensic Fact Friday✨

Cadaver Dogs (Human Remains Detection K9s) 🐾

These dogs don’t just search — they specialize in finding what can’t be seen.
Trained to detect the unique scent of human decomposition, HRD dogs can locate remains on land, underwater, or even buried deep below the surface. 🌎💧

Each dog is trained to recognize hundreds of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released as the human body breaks down — more than 400 human-specific compounds have been identified! These odors differ from animal decomposition, allowing dogs to distinguish human scent with incredible precision.

🦴 Incredible capabilities:
• Can detect scent through soil, water, and even concrete pores 🌊
• Locate remains buried several feet underground (sometimes over 10 ft in rare conditions)
• Indicate on traces from weeks, months, or even years after death 💀
• Specialized teams handle disaster recovery, clandestine graves, and cold cases 🪦

Studies show well-trained cadaver dogs can reach over 90 % accuracy in controlled tests. Their noses often outperform field instruments—proving that sometimes, the oldest tool in forensics is still the sharpest one. 🕵🏻‍♀️🦮

Happy Friday Friends 😊

Today the team had the pleasure to speak with over 400 members and 2 separate Probus groups about the work of our organisation, as to the issues families are faced with when their loved one joins the over 2700 long term missing persons across the nation.

But today we also appreciated that there will be an additional 400 lights on tonight to assist Leave A Light On Inc on this their annual remembrance to help shine a light home for all of our missing loved ones.

Tonight, as with every night, we will leave our lights on to guide our loved ones home.
