🌟 Local star: Sana joins NSW Minister’s Student Council!

14-year-old Sana, a former refugee settled in Brunswick Heads with the help of Northern Rivers for Refugees, is now the only Northern Rivers rep on the 27-member council. She’ll advise the NSW Education Minister on student issues, advocate for Muslim students, and bring her big dreams – like studying medicine – to the table.

From Syria to Parliament House, Sana’s voice is making a difference. 🌟

🕊️ Time to Protect Human Rights in Australia 🕊️
Australia is one of the only liberal democracies without a national Human Rights Act – and the consequences are becoming increasingly clear. Recent events have shown how easily people’s rights can be overlooked when there are no strong legal protections in place.
NRFR is joining organisations across the country in calling for a Human Rights Act that ensures fairness, dignity and accountability for everyone, including refugees and people seeking asylum. Strong laws protect the vulnerable, guide decision‑makers and help prevent harm before it occurs.

💬 We can’t stay silent. When discrimination goes unchecked, systems fail, and voices are ignored, injustice grows. It’s on all of us to stand up, every day.
⚖️ Australia, we can do better. Let’s use the law to expose injustice, hold people accountable, and push for real change.
🚨 Right now, it matters more than ever. After the Bondi attack, we’re seeing more hate, more restrictions on protest, and still no answers about the violence at the Sydney rally. It’s time to act.
