Let’s bring back the fun and play, let’s celebrate the messy and mundane.

Each month we will share an activity with you, which will be fun, educational (or both) and something you can do on a budget with your kids.

This month, our fun activity is a Family talent Show.

We would love to hear about your fishing adventures, please feel free to share any stories or photos from your take on this activity.

Did you know children begin learning about belonging and identity from birth?

From the very start, babies learn through what they hear, see and experience. When children hear the name of the land they live on, spend time outside, and see adults show respect for Country, they begin to understand that they are part of something bigger. These early experiences help children feel safe, connected and proud — laying strong foundations for lifelong wellbeing

When families share culture early, it helps children grow with:
• a strong sense of belonging
• respect for themselves and others
• confidence to walk proudly in the world
These seeds you are planting will grow for a lifetime

You should be proud, simply for beginning.

Introducing culture doesn’t have to be perfect. Every conversation, every walk, every story matters. Simply, beginning on his journey is something you should be proud of yourself for.

Simple ways to introduce culture every day

You don’t always need special resources or lots of time. Culture can be shared in small, meaningful moments.

🌿 Talk about Country
“When we’re outside, we’re on Wiradjuri Land. This land has been cared for for thousands of years.”

🎶 Sing and listen
Songs, rhythm and music help children feel culture before they understand it.

📖 Share stories
Stories — old or new — teach children values, connection and respect.

🚶‍♀️ Spend time outdoors
Walking on Country, noticing trees, animals and the sky helps children build a relationship with the land.

🖐 Learn together
It’s okay to learn alongside your child. Curiosity shows children that culture is something to be valued.

Growing Up on Wiradjuri Country

We are raising children on Wiradjuri Land, a place rich in stories, knowledge and connection to Country.

Acknowledging the land we live, play and learn on helps children understand that:
• Country is alive
• We are connected to it
• We have a responsibility to care for it

Why Culture Matters Early?

The first 2,000 days of a child’s life are a time of rapid growth — not just in their body and brain, but in their sense of identity and belonging.

Introducing culture early helps children feel:
• Safe and connected
• Proud of who they are
• Strong in their sense of self

Culture gives children roots. And when children know where they come from, they grow with confidence

From the very beginning, culture shapes who our children become.

The songs they hear, the stories they’re told, the Country they walk on — it all helps them know who they are and where they belong. When children grow up strong in culture, they grow up strong in spirit, too. Every story told and every lesson shared connects them to something bigger. Our stories aren’t just from the past — they’re gifts for the future.
