The Devonport Mens Shed has enjoyed another fruitful month and is now warming up for the grey days of winter. There are a few pictures below of our members at work and play.
To remember our members who have passed on, we have decided to create a "board" listing these men in order. See picture below.
Unfortunately, we are not provided with a recycle bin since we are not a purely residential address. So we have to make do with other, often unsuitable, means. But we do nicely cater for handling bottles and cans; see picture of our 44 gallon drums whose contents we regularly take to our recycle centre.
Also check out the laser creation pictures below; these items have been manufactured by Kev and our other Laser Engraver experts. We looking to sell these for about $25. Also we are happy to look at making any design that our folk in our community might desire.

Another interesting week at the Shed!
Sometimes it's hard to find the right bit of timber, but plenty of advisors available!?
Our Treasurer showing us how to count our money.
Also great work is being done by our expert Laser Engraver chappies.
Great example shown by Kev of a Kangaroo speeding along; simply a few nice timbers embedded in an old fence paling!
Also we had a significant donation of various paints by Cabots. Thanks heaps to them!

Wednesdays are Womens Day at the Devonport Shed.
It is very impressive how much these ladies do on just the one day. They have some good times and make some great and interesting products as can be seen in these pictures!

The Good Ole Boys of the Devonport Mens Shed have had a busy and rewarding month. So for the last thursday of each month we reward ourselves with a barbeque and the odd beer.
Thanks to members Graeme Sargeant & Ben Pocious for preparing this months feast.

Some lads from our Shed helped a Western Australian visitor prepare some Huon Pine for taking home.
Bringing wood into Western Australia (WA)
requires strict adherence to biosecurity regulations to prevent pests and diseases. Wood must be clean, free from bark, soil, and insect damage. All timber, wooden items, or furniture must be declared upon arrival. Items with bark or damage may be seized, treated, or destroyed.

Women's Sheds and dedicated "Ladies Days" are growing across Australia, offering women opportunities for woodworking, metalworking, skill-sharing, and social connection.

Many Men's Sheds, now host dedicated women’s sessions or have become mixed-sex, fostering community inclusion.
Devonport Mens Shed hosts a Womens Wednesday, with a few somewhat token men there to help out.

Women’s Sheds across Australia will shortly be celebrating Women’s Shed Week (28 Feb - 8 March), held annually across the weeks surrounding International Women's Day (8 March).

Our Shed's Beehive has suffered a robbery over the Christmas break.
Robbing in Beekeeping is a phenomenon where bees from stronger colonies invade a weaker or vulnerable hive to steal honey and nectar, typically during a forage-scarce nectar gap.
We intend to get a new swarm in the spring and keep the hive strong, healthy and secure!
