Baby blanket drive now complete 🧶

Today we picked up nine gorgeous hand-crocheted baby blankets from Maggie in Deniliquin, and aren’t they gorgeous. These will be heading to Deniliquin Hospital, along with our other generous blanket donations, to welcome some lucky new arrivals.

Maggie spent many years as a CWA Victoria member before moving to Deniliquin, and her work speaks for itself. We are so grateful — and a big thank you also goes out to everyone else who donated blankets along the way. We’ve now hit our goal, and the drive is officially closed 💛

We’re a young branch still finding our feet, but one thing we know for sure — there is so much talent and knowledge in this community, and we want to soak up as much of it as we can.

Which leads us to ask… would anyone be interested in a beginner crochet lesson? Maggie has kindly offered to show us the ropes, and we would love to make it happen. Comment below or send us a message if you’re keen to take part in a lesson.

A few minutes of your time = $5 for Deni CWA! 💛

Pivotel is running a quick survey about internet and communication challenges in rural and regional Australia — and for every completed survey, they’ll donate $5 directly to our Deniliquin CWA branch.

• Takes just a few minutes
• $5 donated to us for every response
• Make sure you select Deniliquin CWA when asked!

Complete the survey here (also linked on our IG story): https://www.pivotel.com.au/regional-market-survey

Survey closes 30 June 2026 — share with family and friends too. Every response counts.

Deliveries continue for our Winter Warmers project 🥰

We are grateful for the chance to share some extra warmth with families through our Winter Warmers project. Today, deliveries went out to River Region Early Education and Deniliquin North Public School. Items will be distributed to students needing some Winter essentials, such as warm jackets, pyjamas and socks.

If you work at a local organisation and have children who could benefit from this program, please get in touch with us via email: [email protected]

We are very grateful to Australia Post’s Community Grants Program for helping us bring this project to life 🫶 a special shout out to Shelly and Al for their nomination of our branch.

✨ PROJECT UPDATE ✨

Following the incredible success of our Kindness Kits initiative late last year, we’re so excited to officially launch our Winter Warmers project — helping bring a little extra warmth and comfort to local children who need it most. 🤍

Today, Hayley delivered the first Winter Warmers donation, supporting our local DCJ team with 9 beautifully snuggly jackets for children identified by Leish and the wonderful team at DCJ.

Over the coming weeks, we hope to continue supporting children and families through a number of channels across our community. Thank you to everyone who continues to support these initiatives — we can’t wait to share more updates with you soon! ✨

Deniliquin CWA is proud to support the women, children, and families of our region not only through fundraising and community events, but also through meaningful advocacy on issues that impact our future.

As part of this commitment, we have formally submitted a response to the 2026 Murray-Darling Basin Plan Review Discussion Paper, contributing our region’s perspective to an important national conversation.

Our submission focuses on the social and economic impacts of water recovery and buyback policies on southern Basin communities, while offering practical recommendations for balanced outcomes.

We sincerely thank our Advocacy Lead, Zara Graham, for her exceptional work, along with our contributing members and Robbie Sefton for their valued support.

This work reflects the active and progressive role our branch plays in supporting our community.
