Join us for Operating in Austere Environments, a presentation by neurosurgeon Dr Ron Jithoo 🧠⚡

Dr Jithoo is a consultant neurosurgeon at The Alfred Hospital, with academic roles at Monash University, Deakin University, and the University of Papua New Guinea. He has a distinguished career with the Royal Australian Air Force, including deployment to the Middle East in 2021 as a military neurosurgeon, and was recognised with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2026.

He currently holds senior leadership, operational, and policy roles within Defence, including Deputy Director of Surgery and Perioperative Services, and contributes to national work in brain health and traumatic brain injury.

This is an incredible opportunity to gain insight into delivering surgical care in resource-limited environments, where adaptability, precision, and decision-making are critical!

SCRUB CRAWL TICKETS OUT NOW!!

Get ready for one of our biggest nights of the year! a high-energy crawl packed with team challenges, good drinks, and even better company.

We’ll be kicking off the night at the Precinct (Darwin Waterfront), where you can meet everyone from 5:30pm and take advantage of 15% off food and drinks before things officially begin. From there, we start the crawl at 6:30pm, moving through a lineup of venues across the night with exclusive deals!

Tickets:
• $20 standard entry
• $50 with scrubs included (choose your size and colour!)

Tickets for Scrub Crawl will be released on Monday the 20th April at 12pm! Due to venue capacities we have limited tickets so make sure you secure a ticket!!

We will meet at the Precinct, Darwin Waterfront, from 5:30pm, with 15% off food and drinks available before the crawl begins at 6:30pm!

We had such a fantastic evening filled with hands-on learning, skill-building, and great energy from everyone involved. It was amazing to see so many of you getting stuck in, learning from our talented clinicians, and building confidence in your suturing techniques in a supportive environment!

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making the night such a success. We’re so grateful for your support and energy, and we can’t wait to do it all again.

This may have been the fastest an NTSSG event has ever sold out, thank you all for the incredible enthusiasm and support!

Unfortunately, due to equipment and space limitations, we aren’t able to increase ticket numbers this time. However, we hear your requests loud and clear and are already working to make future events even bigger and better.

The Northern Territory Student Surgical Group is hosting its Annual General Meeting this Saturday at 2pm at CDU Casuarina, Yellow Building 2.
This is a great opportunity to get involved and join the committee. Come and join a role that will allow you to network with surgeons and doctors throughout the year, help promote surgery as a career, and plan educational and social events across the NT.
