Australian Catholic Medical Association NT

Australian Catholic Medical Association NT The ACMA exists for these reasons:

1. Help each other live out our Catholic Faith at work

3.

The ACMA NT was established due to a common need felt by Catholics working in healthcare in the NT to come together in solidarity to support each other in our personal, spiritual and professional lives. A common need felt by Catholics working in healthcare to come together in solidarity to support each other in our personal, spiritual and professional lives, regardless of our level of seniority

2

. Receive high quality and up-to-date Catholic bioethical guidance on how to deal with the ethical dilemmas we can be faced with

4. Advocacy for pro-life causes, honouring human life from conception to natural death and, at the same time, defend our right to true conscientious objection

In order to pursue these goals, the CMA does the following:

1. It organises prayer events and Catholic Masses for people in healthcare as well as informal social/recreational events, field trips, pilgrimages

2. It organises more or less formal opportunities for debriefing or reflecting on how we can live our Faith at work: for instance, talks on Catholic medical saints have proven to be quite valuable in the past

3. It organises conferences with qualified speakers and bioethicists for proper guidance on the bioethical dilemmas we encounter

4. As needed, it organises petitions and lobbies politicians and our regulating agencies whenever we think is necessary, and especially whenever new legislation threatens the principles of our Catholic Faith
