Slightly off track again from our Cableway issue: this is a chance, yet again, to get your voice heard about the Quarry in Tally Valley. The application "called in to the State Government. BRING THIS IN TO THE STATE GOVERNMENT WITH OUR VOICES

*Quarry at Reedy Creek- time starts now for submissions!*
The QLD Government are now proposing to 'call-in' the application by Boral Resources for a Quarry at Reedy Creek with a 10 business-day consultation period for community and stakeholders.

EMAIL YOUR SUBMISSION to the Minister for Planning by Tuesday March 3: [email protected]

NEW UPDATE: The proposed call-in notice is now published online and the address for submissions is provided below.

*Every submission to the QLD Government matters*
This is the window for community concerns about the quarry application to be heard. If the State Government determines they should call-in the application (powers exercised due to state interests) they then take over the assessment and decision-making responsibility from the local council.

Not every proposed call-in progresses to actually being called-in for State Government assessment. Projects that are called-in can still be approved (potentially with conditions). Arundel Hills and Dreamworld are two recent GC examples of proposed call-ins.

Written representations must be made by Tuesday 3 March 2026 to:
Deputy Premier
Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning
Minister for Industrial Relations
c/- Director, Improvement and Assessment Division
Planning Group
Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning
Email: [email protected]
Post: PO Box 15009, CITY EAST QLD 4002

Address your correspondence to the above, provide your name and return address (but not in the main body as submissions may be published).

EMAIL YOUR SUBMISSION to the Minister for Planning by Tuesday March 3: [email protected]

The QLD Government are now proposing to 'call-in' the application by Boral Resources for a Quarry at Reedy Creek with a 10 day consultation period for community and stakeholders to let them know if they should issue that notice.

As noted in the linked statement, the Deputy Premier will write to the applicant, Gold Coast City Council, and submitters on the current application, inviting their feedback over a 10-day consultation period on whether the project should be called in.

Over 5000 submissions were received by COGC during the public consultation period that closed last week.

A great sentiment for our own beautiful Springbrook Mountain. NO CABLEWAY that takes out trees and habitat!!!

In just the last 10,000 years, humans have cleared around one third of the world’s forests. A sobering thought 🤔🌏. (Source: Our World In Data)

Trees are not just scenery. They provide food, shelter and homes for more than 80% of all terrestrial wildlife, from tiny insects to birds and mammals 🌳. Mature trees also protect people and places. Their roots stabilise soil, reduce erosion and help prevent flash flooding and landslides, absorbing far more water than hard surfaces like asphalt.

Healthy forests mean resilient ecosystems, safer landscapes and a thriving future for life on Earth. We believe 💚.
