Gamelia and her joey, Gilly, came into the hospital for a quick health check and chlamydia vaccination. They live on Tally Valley Golf Course and form part of an important breeding population. We are grateful for the support we receive from Ben and the team at the course to help keep the koalas safe and healthy.

It’s great to see the koala climbing poles being installed on Tallebudgera Connection Road. As we head into the breeding season, koalas need all the help they can get. These poles will hopefully help koalas climb the steep embankment when they cross the road.

You can help koalas too by observing the reduced speed limit between 6pm and 6am, when they are most active.

Thank you for your kind words Wildcare Australia Inc. It’s a pleasure to work alongside such a dedicated and skilled group helping our wildlife on the Gold Coast.

We’d love to share something truly special with our Gold Coast community 🐨💚

Behind every koala that gets a second chance is a team of passionate people working tirelessly to understand, treat, and protect them in the wild. The CWH Koala Research Team are part of that quiet force for good - dedicating countless hours to researching disease, improving treatments, and giving koalas the best possible chance at survival.

Their work goes far beyond what we often see. From investigating the impacts of chlamydia and other threats, to contributing to life-changing conservation outcomes, they are helping shape a future where koalas can continue to thrive in the wild.

It’s work that takes patience, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to our wildlife - and it truly makes a difference.

If you care about the future of koalas as much as we do, we warmly encourage you to follow their page and support the incredible work they’re doing 👇

Euca was discovered to have a severely wet and stained rump when we first came across her in Elanora – a common sign of chlamydia in koalas. After 7 weeks in hospital receiving critical treatment and care, Euca was finally given the all-clear for release. She was released in Eddie Kornhauser Recreational Reserve where she will be monitored daily whilst she adjusts back into the bush-life. We will continue to track Euca over the following months to ensure she remains disease-free. If you’re lucky, you might spot her hanging around the reserve.
