💔 Sri Lanka Flood Relief Appeal – Please Help Us Support Families in Need

In the past few days, Sri Lanka has been hit by severe flooding that has destroyed homes, displaced families, and left entire communities struggling to survive. Roads are underwater, elderly people are stuck in their homes, and parents are carrying their children through waist-deep water with nowhere safe to go.

As Sri Lankans living in Australia, it’s heartbreaking to watch.
And this time, I refuse to stay silent — I want to take real action.

This fundraiser is created to support families who urgently need food, water, clothing, medicine, and basic essentials.

💛 How Your Donation Will Be Used

Every cent collected will go directly to:

Emergency food parcels

Clean drinking water

Clothing, blankets, sanitary items

Medicine and urgent medical supplies

Temporary accommodation support

Direct help to elderly people, single mothers, and affected families

Dear friends,

Manik Foundation is reaching out to our community for a cause close to our hearts. We are currently in need of used clothes and baby toys to support our partnership with a cancer hospital in Sri Lanka. While monetary donations may not be feasible for everyone, your gently used clothing and toys can make a world of difference to those in need.

We understand the sentiment attached to the clothes and toys your children have outgrown or are no longer using. Instead of discarding them or donating to other charities, we kindly ask you to consider giving them to Manik Foundation. Your donations will directly benefit children battling cancer, providing them with comfort and joy during their difficult journey.

To facilitate this process, simply send us a message with a photo of the items you wish to donate, and we will arrange a convenient time to collect them from you. Please ensure that the clothes are in wearable condition and within the age range of 3 months old babies to size XL.

Additionally, please ensure that the toys do not require batteries or electronics, as customs regulations may pose challenges during transportation.

Currently, we are collecting donations in and around Melbourne, particularly in the south-east region. However, if you reside outside this area, please reach out to us, and we will make arrangements to collect your donations.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share a heartfelt story with you all about the humble beginnings of Manik Foundation. Over a year ago, I embarked on a journey to make a difference in the lives of street dogs in Negombo, Sri Lanka. With the support of a dear friend who generously funded our initial efforts, we began by feeding 10-15 street dogs near my home at the beach.

I employed my aunt, a mother facing financial hardship, to cook nutritious meals for the dogs daily. Additionally, I hired a friend with a tuk tuk to transport the food and ensure the dogs were fed consistently, even when I couldn't be there personally. This project not only provided employment opportunities for struggling individuals but also ensured that these vulnerable animals received the care they desperately needed.

Unfortunately, due to my own financial constraints, I had to halt the project, which left me deeply saddened. However, this experience ignited a passion within me to do more and inspired the creation of Manik Foundation.

Now, back in Australia, I am committed to continuing our mission of compassion and support. With Manik Foundation, we aim to undertake a myriad of projects to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.
