On World Ranger Day, we celebrate the incredible women whose leadership is helping to protect Queensland's unique environment, culture and communities. 🌿

Congratulations to Angelina Williams, recipient of Queensland's inaugural Indigenous Woman Ranger of the Year Award 2026. 🏆

A proud Angkamuthi, Yadhaykenu and Saibai Islander woman, Angelina is based in Injinoo, where she coordinates a team of 13 Indigenous Rangers caring for Apudthama Land and Sea Country. Their work spans an extraordinary part of Queensland, from Pajinka at the Tip, south to the Skardon River and across to the eastern cape.

Angelina's achievement highlights the vital contribution Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women make as leaders, mentors and custodians of Country. Through her dedication and leadership, she is helping protect cultural knowledge, strengthen communities and inspire the next generation of women to lead with confidence and purpose.

Today, we honour Angelina and all women rangers whose knowledge, resilience and commitment are creating a stronger future for Queensland.

Happy World Ranger Day to all of Queensland’s Indigenous Women Rangers.

Today we celebrate the women who walk alongside Elders, Traditional Owners and communities to care for Country, protect culture, monitor wildlife, manage fire, restore ecosystems, mentor young people and lead with strength and knowledge.

We also pause to remember Rangers around the world who have made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting our natural and cultural heritage.

To every Indigenous Woman Ranger across Queensland—thank you. Thank you for the passion, determination, cultural knowledge and leadership you bring every day. Your work is making a real difference for Country, communities and future generations.
