This week is National Volunteer week. I would like to personally thank and express my appreciation to the team at Collie Volunteer Fire and Rescue. This year has been our busiest year on record, our team has responded to over 200 calls this financial year. Your dedication to responding to incidents 24/7 and attending training is commended. Makes me very proud to have the opportunity to lead such an amazing group of people.
Also a big thank you to the volunteers and staff from St Johns, WA Police and Collie Bushfire Brigades who have supported us throughout the year.
Our community and communities around Australia would be lost without the dedication of 1000's of volunteers giving up their free time to lend a hand.

As we gather to pay heartfelt tribute, the words 'Honour the Brave' on the cenotaph resonate deeply within us. We pay solemn respects to the courageous men and women who served with unwavering dedication, past and present, acknowledging the profound sacrifices some made, while also recognising the enduring battles faced by those who returned home. We honour the families and loved ones who bore the weight of uncertainty and loneliness with unshakeable strength. Though 'For King and Country' may evoke varying perspectives on leadership, it is the unshakeable unity in our nation's spirit that truly matters. Instilling in our children the true essence of the ANZAC spirit is vital - it's about embracing the profound significance of sacrifice, the nobility of service, and the unbreakable bonds of camaraderie. Today and always, we remember your sacrifices with gratitude and thank you for the precious freedom we've inherited.

I have formed a new Facebook group. Firefighters Against Cancer. Its a group for people to share their stories and support for Firefighters being provided with appropriate care through periodic cancer screening. I dont care if you are a career or volunteer firefighter if you are an urban or vegetation firefighters. Cancer doesn't care either, its been proven that what we do is putting us at risk of Cancer. The group is not about bashing our governments or departments, its about raising awareness and making a change. Being provided with appropriate care is no longer negotiable.

What a nice night for some of the team to be out honing in some skills. The CP still has the goods to feed the monitor.

A big thank you to Damon and the team at Rugged Xtremes who looked after us. We were looking at a storage solution for our personal respirators. The Rugged Xtremes team had just the thing. We purchased a respiratory bag for each of our members, the bag allows for the storage of the mask, spare filters a packet of decon wipes. Great for half face mask and goggles as well.

As we mark National Police Remembrance Day on 29th September, we take a moment to honour the selfless men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in their duty to safeguard our communities. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones who continue to feel the pain of their loss. To those who remain in service, we express our appreciation for your tireless efforts and wish for your continued safety as you strive to keep us secure.
