🫶COFFS HARBOUR SU***DE BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP🫶

Grieving a su***de can feel isolating, complex, and hard to put into words. If you or someone you know is navigating the loss of a loved one to su***de, you don’t have to do it alone.

🩵Coffs Harbour SBSG is structured to support safe, honest sharing of thoughts, feelings & experiences in a stigma-free, caring environment. Research shows that supporting people to share openly about difficult subjects with others with similar experiences helps build resilience & coping. It reduces the sense of aloneness, isolation & stigma described by many people affected by su***de.

💙Each month SBSG addresses a different key issue associated with su***de of a loved one. Facilitators make sure information & resources provided are up to date & aimed at supporting SBSG members in their areas of need.

🩵Each group is facilitated by two crisis support trained people who because of personal and/or family experience of su***de, su***de ideation or su***de bereavement, share empathic understanding and a commitment to healing.

💙There is no pressure on group members to share or participate beyond what each wants & is comfortable with.

🩵The group meets every second Monday of every month- 6pm to 8pm

We had a great afternoon with our volunteers, playing Lawn Bowls at Park Beach Bowls Club. The sun was out 🌞, the hospitality was spot on and playing bowls was fun.

It's always lovely when we can plan a social activity, to invite and reward all our volunteers for all their great work. 🥰🥰🥰

Not all superheroes wear capes, but to us, our volunteer telephone crisis supporters certainly do.🫶

We are looking for 16 students to commence our next round of training in August 2026.

Training is a Nationally Recognised Training course (CHCSS00113 Crisis Support Skill Set) and will equip you with the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to support people in crisis.
Students are thoroughly supported throughout their training journey by experienced trainers, mentors, and a caring volunteer community.

Not all calls are a life or death situation. Most callers simply need someone to talk to when they are overwhelmed. You don’t need to have all the answers or prior qualifications to make a meaningful difference.

If you are compassionate, willing to learn, and ready to support others, we would love to meet you.
Join us at one of our upcoming information sessions to ask questions, learn more about the role, and see if this opportunity is right for you 💙

If you are interested to learn more about becoming a Telephone Crisis Supporter, we invite you to come to one of our information sessions to learn more and meet our team.
Training information sessions coming up:
🗓️Thursday 18th June- 5.30pm to 7.00pm
🗓️Saturday 4th July- 10.00am to 11.30am

See comments for links to book into a session or submit your interest to sign up.
