Join 23 Army Cadet Unit – Camden

Build confidence, learn practical skills, and become part of a supportive team that takes on real challenges together.

At 23 ACU, cadets develop:
🧭 Leadership & confidence
🏕️ Fieldcraft, navigation & first aid
🤝 Teamwork through activities & bivouacs
🎖️ Community involvement through ceremonial events

Parade nights: Thursdays, 1830–2130 hrs, Camden Airport, Cobbitty
Who can join: Youth aged 12 (turning 13 this year) to 17, from Camden and surrounding areas

A few important things to know:
Applications are first-come, first-served, and must be completed in full — incomplete applications won't be accepted once the intake closes. If we reach capacity, a small waitlist will be used.

23 ACU Camden — 2026 Annual Parade

On Saturday our cadets stood tall for the 2026 Annual Parade, showcasing the discipline, teamwork, and commitment that define 23 ACU Camden. From new recruits to senior leaders, every cadet displayed pride in their unit and respect for the traditions we uphold.

Thank you to the families, community members, Camden RSL Sub‑Branch, and supporters who joined us on the parade ground. Your presence reminds our cadets that they are part of something bigger than themselves.

A special acknowledgement to LTCOL Christopher Conwell, NSW Deputy Commander, Australian Army Cadets, for serving as the Reviewing Officer. Our thanks also go to 21 ACU Penrith for their support with the band, and to our dedicated staff and instructors whose guidance continues to shape the leaders of tomorrow.

Well done, 23 ACU — your professionalism and spirit were on full display.

James Cook University and the Australian Army Cadets have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formally recognise the leadership and skills gained by Cadets as part of their training.

Our cadets were out on the parade ground last thrusday , putting in the hard yards and mastering the basics of drill.
From perfecting their spacing to learning the fundamentals of teamwork and discipline, everyone showed great focus under the stars. A huge shoutout to the new faces stepping up and getting stuck into the training!

🌲 FIELD DAYS & OBSTACLE WAYS 🌲
Over the weekend, cadets from 23ACU and 21ACU joined forces to put their physical and mental skills to the test! 🙌
From mastering methods of movement through the bush to navigating the challenges of the obstacle course and observation course, everyone showed incredible determination, teamwork, and grit. 🎯💪

During the April school holidays, NSW AAC Brigade hosted the 02/26 Electives and STEM Courses.

23 ACU Camden was well represented, with several of our staff attending to instruct, support, and manage courses across a range of areas including Robotics, Drone Racing, Course Management, and Weapons Safety and Marksmanship.

We also had cadets attend as Cadet Directing Staff, assisting with the delivery of training and supporting other cadets throughout the courses.

These activities provide valuable opportunities for both cadets and staff to develop leadership, share knowledge, build confidence, and further develop specialist skills across the Australian Army Cadets.

Cadets are also able to attend these activities as candidates, allowing them to learn new skills through elective courses and continue their personal development.

While 23 ACU did not have cadets attend as candidates during the April courses, we are pleased to have several cadets nominated to attend the July Electives and Leadership Courses. These courses will provide further opportunities for them to progress their skills, learning, and leadership development.

Well done to all 23 ACU staff and cadets who supported the April courses, and good luck to those attending the July courses.
