DEA Public Statement on the NDIS Amendment Bill 2026

Developmental Educators Australia acknowledges the passage of the NDIS Amendment Bill 2026 and recognises the significance of this moment for NDIS participants, families, providers and the broader disability sector.

We recognise that with reform comes uncertainty. Many participants, families and organisations are understandably concerned about what these changes will mean for access to support, decision-making, service provision and the future of the Scheme.

The passage of the legislation marks an important transition, but it is the implementation of these reforms, and their impact on the lives of people with disability, that will ultimately determine their success.

DEA believes this is a time for informed, constructive and sustained engagement. We will continue to work alongside people with disability, families, government, the NDIA and our sector partners to support implementation that is transparent, evidence-informed and focused on genuine participant outcomes.

Developmental Educators make a unique contribution to the disability sector. As the NDIS evolves, DEA will continue to advocate for the importance of developmental and capacity-building approaches. We will also advocate for supports that enable people with disability to exercise choice and participate meaningfully in their communities.

DEA remains committed to steady leadership, constructive collaboration and strong advocacy—keeping people with disability at the centre of the conversation and the reform process.
