Good news! Due to high levels of interest in our Canberra Hub opening, we are EXTENDING our application deadline until 11:59pm AEST on Monday 18 May! 🎉

Applications remain open to become a Canberra Global Shaper, and join a passionate group of young people creating impact in their communities. Link in bio to apply! ⚡

Global Shapers is a worldwide community of active changemakers across more than 500 local hubs around the world empowered to drive change in their communities. 🌐

The Canberra Hub is a space for young and emerging leaders to develop their skills and leadership potential, support and get support from other established or emerging leaders, continue their community impact journey, and form new networks. 🌈

Apply by 11:59pm AEST on Monday 18 May if you are:

➡ Between 18-27 years old
➡ Looking to work with a team of like-minded young people
➡ Keen to create impact for the community
➡ Living in or near the ACT (Canberra)
➡ A young or emerging leader
➡ Able to attend monthly meetups, including social events and skillshares
➡ Interested in contributing to or leading projects

The Hub is a community of members who commit approximately 4-8 hours a month to Hub activities, networking and communications, with all time commitments being voluntary.

We seek applicants from all educational and employment backgrounds and particularly welcome applications from people who identify as First Nations, culturally and racially marginalised, LGBTQIASB+, disabled or a person with disability, from a migrant or refugee background, from a regional, rural or remote background, or from a low-income/low-socioeconomic background.

Canberra Shapers Maddi, Chelsea, Hannah, Shaam and Ravi were excited to attend the the launch of the 'National Conversation Development Lab' created by at the Parliamentary Group for Future Generations. They also ran into former Shaper and friend of the Hub Ananya.

We received a glimpse of what the future of Intergenerational Consultation looks like at the launch of the National Conversation Development Lab. This project over the next 18 months will help develop an Australian 'National Conversation' - a meaningful model of engagement that engages everyday people, long term to shape the overall governance of our nation beyond the next election cycle.

The Canberra Hub is looking forward to continued involvement with both the National Conversation Lab and the Parliamentary Friend Group for Future Generations.

Shapers at our Canberra Hub April meeting 🌏 read on for a summary of the meeting ⬇️

For our April meeting, the Canberra Hub came together for an evening of connection and sharing. Shaper Maddi facilitated an insightful discussion about the upcoming federal budget and how the group would allocate the budget to address areas that they care about as youth. 🏦 Shapers identified climate action, gender based violence, mental health and government efficiency as budget priorities for young Canberrans, and emphasised the need for intergenerational fairness in budgetary decisions. ⚖️ Thank you to Maddi for hosting, and to Shapers Mitha, Alice, Ravi, Izzy, Jemma, Zodie, Chelsea, and guest James for coming along. See you at our next Hub meeting!
