Dahlia Growers Canberra : Sell and Swap

I'm considering booking a stall at the Curtin Spring Fair (usually held in mid-October) and was wondering if anyone would be interested in joining me to sell excess plants, seeds, cuttings, or other garden-related items.

There may be a small stall fee, which we can share between participants. But understand if you byo table there’s no fee but I’ll confirm!

If you'd be interested in being part of it, please send me a message. It would be great to gauge interest and potentially put together a gardening community stall!

Seed and plant sharing at this years Dahlia Swap & Giveaway event 🌸

With seed harvesting season underway, I thought it would be a great opportunity to expand our next Dahlia Swap & Giveaway into a seed and plant sharing event as well.

If you have any excess seeds… flowers, veggies, herbs, plants, anything at all, you’re welcome to bring them along to share with others. Open-pollinated or otherwise, all are welcome.

The only things we ask is that you please label your seeds and plants clearly, including:
• What the plant is
• The colour (especially for flowers)
And… ensure it’s pest free!!!

This is a lovely way to swap not just dahlias, but a wider variety of plants within our community.

🌼 Good morning, my dahlia friends!!! 🌼

IMPORTANT!!!
Before I get into the details, tips and tricks can you please send me a private message letting me know if you will be swapping or sharing or both so that I can get an indication of what to expect on the day.

Only 2 sleeps to go until our Dahlia Swap & Share event! 😍
Whether it’s your first time or you’ve been to last years event, here are a few friendly tips to help the morning run smoothly 👇

💐 If you’re swapping:
Please arrive and be set up by 10:30am so you’re ready to go when we start. The will be a table seperately marked.

🌸 If you’re sharing:
You can drop off your tubers from 9:45am, but please have them in by 10:00am so we have time to sort and spread everything out.
After you’ve dropped off your goodies, why not grab a coffee from the local shop and come back refreshed for the fun? ☕💐

🕚 Event timing:
The event runs for one hour — from 10:30am to 11:30am.
Packing up starts right at 11:30am, so please make sure to keep within these times.

🪻 A quick note on tubers:
Please bring only tubers with visible, healthy eyes — that way everyone goes home with something that’s ready to grow and thrive 🌱✨

✏️ Labelling matters!
Make sure each dahlia is clearly labelled (not just the bag!).
If this is not possible, please make sure you bring a marker and a few spare bags so you can relabel easily.

🪑 Comfort tip:
Bring a seat if you think you’ll need one — it’s a relaxed morning, and a chair never goes astray!

🛍️ And don’t forget:
Bring something to carry your goodies home in.

🌸 Canberran Annual Dahlia Swap – Only 7 Days to Go! 🌸

I’m so excited for the upcoming Canberra Annual Dahlia Swap Event!
This will be the third swap organised, and the first one for this growing season — it’s going to be a great day!

Here are a few important things to remember:

🌼 Labelling Your Tubers
We know many of us will have some unnamed varieties — that’s completely fine!
Please number them and add your name (e.g. Emilia 1, Emilia 2).

We ask that you include your name so others can reach out if they have questions — and to avoid confusion if multiple people use “1” as their label.

If your dahlia is known, please label it with:
• The variety name, and
• The type and colour (e.g. Cactus – Pink, Decorative – Yellow, Pom – Red) only If it’s not a common dahlia found easily online.

All unnamed or unknown varieties will be placed in a shared “Unnamed/Unknown” section — but please still mark them with your name and number so nobody accidentally takes two of “your No.1s”!

🌼 Drop-off Time
If you’re bringing dahlias to share, please try to arrive before 10:00 am.
We’ll need time to sort through all the tubers before the event officially begins.
The swap won’t start until sorting is complete, so early drop-offs really help.

🌼 Possible Second Swap
Depending on interest and demand, a second swap may be orgaised afte weeks doen the track, so stay tuned if you miss this one or have more tubers to share!

🌸✨ Canberra Dahlia Growers – Swap & Share Event Reminder! ✨🌸

Only 17 days to go! 🌱💐
Our big Dahlia Swap & Share Day is almost here!

📍 Venue: Park near Woden Valley Church, off Dennison Street, Curtin (see invite for exact location)
📅 Date: Sunday 19 October
⏰ Helpers needed from 9:45am (to help sort and spread tubers)
⏰ Drop-off tubers by 10:00am — earlier if you can
⏰ Event begins from 10:30am, announced once everything is ready.

👉 The event will not start until the tubers are sorted and laid out, so extra hands at 9:45am will make things run smoothly and fairly for everyone. 💪🌼

Here’s how it will work:
🌼 Swap Table – Pre-arranged swaps will have their own table (please organise swaps directly with each other).
🌼 Share Tables – All other tubers will be placed here to share.
🌼 Tuber Quality – Please only bring healthy tubers with visible eyes.
🌼 Labelling – Tubers should be labelled with their name. Where the name is not known, they must at least be labelled with colour and type (e.g. red Decorative, yellow Cactus, pink Pompon).
🌼 Limit: Please take only one of each tuber type especially if they are unique or hard to find that way everyone has a fair chance to find something they love.

✨ Please be respectful, patient, and kind — this event is about sharing our love of dahlias and building community.
