GovHack 2024 ACT Regional Competition Weekend

Waiting for the GovHack 2024 challenges to go live earlier tonight was such a cliffhanger. We finished the opening ceremony preliminaries early and had to stretch the wait a little bit. The challenges were synchronized to be published at exactly 7pm and a flurry of clicks to the Hackerspace quickly ensued. I could tell most competitors were enthralled, their beaming faces clearly eager.

The volunteers are happy with the turnout at this year's GovHack ACT Competition Weekend. That's day 1 done., We have two more days to go. Looking forward to what the teams build over the weekend.

Louis Peter Abasta Staubitz confidently took the First Wednesday Connect stage for his 60-second GovHack pitch inviting innovators to join the hackathon.

GovHack 2024 in Canberra will be held at the AWS Offices in Northbourne this weekend 6-8 September starting Friday night and ends Sunday afternoon.

Awards and recognition await teams who win the challenges.

Ezra Corcuera and Ryan Macalandag speak in front of the IT Capstone class of the University of Canberra inviting students to compete this season.

UC's Capstone unit is run every semester where students group into teams to build innovative projects vying for the Best Project Awards at the end of the term - much like an extended version of the 3-day GovHack hackathon.

GovHack ACT is encouraging students of all-levels to come compete. The experience is perfect for testing out new ideas and developing existing projects while getting mentorship from government agencies, industry partners and fellow innovators.
