Building stronger, more resilient organisations starts with creating opportunities to learn, connect and share ideas.

We recently hosted a Canberra Foundations Collaborative Revenue Diversification workshop, bringing together 22 people from 16 community organisations across Canberra.

Facilitated by Jon Davies from Social Impact Hub, the session explored different funding and capital options, helping organisations better understand how to build financial sustainability and identify the right support at different stages of their journey.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a thoughtful and engaging discussion.

The Canberra Foundations Collaborative is a partnership between Snow Foundation, Hands Across Canberra and the John James Foundation, working together to strengthen Canberra's community sector.

Silenced is a powerful new documentary exploring how defamation law is increasingly being used against women and journalists who speak publicly about gendered violence, exposing a pattern that is often difficult to see from the outside.

We are supporting the film’s impact campaign, an important educational tool for raising awareness of and addressing systemic inequality.

Preview screenings are taking place across Australia throughout August and early September, with Q&A sessions featuring speakers who will discuss the film and the issues it brings to light.

Celebrating Sydney's trailblazers who advance gender equality and social justice at Sydney Women's Fund's 12th Saluting Sydney Women event.

This year's recipient is Suzie Miller, a globally acclaimed playwright, screenwriter and novelist, and one of the most influential storytellers of our time. Before turning to writing, Suzie worked as a human rights and criminal defence lawyer, representing some of society's most vulnerable people. Determined to give voice to the stories the law so often failed, she found another way to pursue justice: through her plays. What a brilliant career choice!

Her work has exploded onto the world stage. Prima Facie has been performed in more than 50 countries, translated into more than 30 languages, and has won multiple prestigious awards. It’s been adapted into a bestselling novel across 13 territories, and is now headed to the screen, starring Cynthia Erivo. But if you ask Suzie, awards were never the point. It was the thousands of women who saw their own experiences reflected on stage, and a body of work that has changed hearts and minds and, in some places, changed the law.

It was a joy for our CEO and Sydney Women’s Fund Chair, Georgina Byron, to MC and host this awesome celebration alongside the Advisory Committee and team. Our partner for more than 18 years, Sydney Women’s Fund goes far beyond grantmaking, investing in local leaders and grassroots organisations, backing community-led solutions, conducting research, and advocating for systemic change.

We love working together with Canberra Airport to support the St John's Care winter appeal.

This year, thanks to generous donations from across airport business parks, more than nine trolleys of food, along with coats, blankets, winter clothing and toiletries, were delivered.

St John’s Care has provided practical assistance and tailored support to vulnerable families across Canberra for over 35 years. With winter placing extra pressure on many households, the appeal is a meaningful way to help meet essential needs in the community.

A heartfelt thank you to St John’s Care, and to everyone who donated and volunteered their time. A special shoutout to Dave H, who volunteered on his final day of work after an amazing 38 years with the airport.

Every member of the community deserves dignity, stability and wellbeing.

The of Canberra's WEST Project is an evidence-based program founded by researcher Erin Kelly. It helps women who have experienced domestic violence and sexual abuse rebuild their physical and mental wellbeing through free, trauma-informed strength training.

We have been supporting this fantastic program since 2023 through the Canberra Foundations Collaborative, and we're excited to continue our partnership through a further three-year grant.

The impact extends far beyond the gym, equipping women with the resilience and support networks needed to navigate challenges in their own lives and communities.

We are committed to supporting initiatives like the WEST Project that empower women, promote respectful relationships, and create lasting positive change.

Applications are now open for the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Rural Scholarships.

For over 20 years, the Snow Foundation has supported rural and regional students to access educational opportunities and pursue their goals.

Scholarships are available to students from regional NSW undertaking university, TAFE or college studies and are committed to contributing to the future of the regions they call home.

Laura is from the small rural town of Nymagee, where she has lived her whole life and she feels most at home in the bush. Laura is currently in her final year of studying a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary) at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga. For Laura, finishing her degree is more than a personal achievement, it's the beginning of a journey to give back. Excited to start her career as a teacher in a rural community, she hopes to make a lasting difference in regions she feels are too often overlooked.

Our Partnership Manager Bec joined Rachelle and Simone from Sisters In Spirit Aboriginal Corporation at the ACT Community Sector NAIDOC Celebration to recognise their critical work in the community.

Sisters in Spirit is an Aboriginal women-led organisation creating culturally safe spaces for healing, mentoring and legal support for Aboriginal women and girls.

After supporting Sisters in Spirit through last year’s Canberra Foundations Collaborative grant round, we are deepening our commitment through a three-year partnership that will help strengthen services shaped directly by the voices and priorities of women in the community.

As part of our commitment to the Canberra region, we are excited to support partnerships that nurture local leadership, cultural connection, education, justice and community participation.

Hope: from the first community-designed, culture-led home.

It was a privilege to join Warumungu Elders, families and the wilya_janta team in Tennant Creek to celebrate the opening of the first ‘Explain Home’! Three years in the making, from termite mound mud bricks, designed by community, for community.

Every detail reflects years of Aboriginal leadership and co-design. Built for culture, climate and the way families want to live, it shows what's possible when Aboriginal communities lead the design process from the start.

For Snow Foundation, Wilya Janta brings together two long-term priorities: First Nations self-determination and eliminating rheumatic heart disease. Healthy housing is one of the most powerful health interventions we have and Wilya Janta is showing what that looks like in practice.

It was encouraging to see all levels of government at the housewarming, recognising this milestone. As governments continue to invest in remote housing across the NT, now is the time to partner with Wilya Janta and other Aboriginal communities to build on this, investing in Aboriginal-led design from the outset delivers homes that are healthier, more culturally responsive, and better suited to community needs.

Gender equity is at the heart of our decision making and processes, and we value the opportunity to support the critical work of DV Safe Phone in the ACT.

Through the Canberra Foundations Collaborative (CFC), we're supporting DV Safe Phone's ACT Safety and Connection Project, helping provide 200 Safe Phone Kits through five registered agencies across the region.

This initiative will help victim-survivors of domestic and family violence access a safe, reliable phone when they need it most. To date, DV Safe Phone has supported more than 18,000 people through over 550 agencies nationwide.

Huge congratulations to Worldview Foundation Organisation of the Year at the 2026 ACT NAIDOC Awards!
Worldview is a Canberra-based, Indigenous-led organisation working to create brighter futures for Indigenous Australians by breaking down barriers to employment through community-led, culturally grounded programs.

We're also celebrating a new three-year partnership, to extend their Intensive Post-Employment Mentoring Program from six to twelve months.
Our partnership started with Worldview last year, and this extended commitment is built on the evidence that shows structured mentoring can lift employment retention rates by up to 72%.
Funding also supports Worldview Foundation's NAIDOC event, helping deepen stakeholder connections and build diverse funding streams for the future.

This partnership reflects our priorities of First Nations determination, place-based impact, and positive masculinities.

Congratulations again to the whole team and we're excited for what the next three years hold.
