What an unforgettable night for our Canberra community.
On Saturday, we welcomed more than 300 people to the 2026 Type 1 Diabetes Enlighten Gala, and together we raised over $217,000 for Breakthrough T1D Australia. 💙
What began as a community idea has grown into something incredibly powerful a room filled with families, advocates, researchers, sponsors, volunteers and supporters all united by one goal: creating a better future for everyone living with type 1 diabetes.
As host and organiser, I’m so proud of what our community achieved together. From the generosity shown throughout the auctions and donations, to the moving stories shared by our guest speakers, the night was a reminder of the strength and heart within the T1D community.
A huge thank you to the Gala Committee, our volunteers, donors and sponsors including Sanofi, Hive Property, Hellenic Club of Canberra, Mix 106.3 and so many others who helped bring this event to life.
Special thanks also to Breakthrough T1D Australia for their continued leadership in research, advocacy and support for families living with T1D. A special mention also to John Loukadelis for driving gift matching through the Macquarie Group Foundation under its not-for-profit staff support policy, helping amplify the impact of funds raised on the night.
Canberra showed up in the most extraordinary way — and every dollar raised helps drive progress towards better treatments, prevention and ultimately a cure.
