Sexual and Reproductive Health Australia

Sexual and Reproductive Health Australia FPAA is an alliance of state and territory sexual and reproductive health organisations.

FPAA is a long-standing alliance of the key sexual and reproductive health organisations from each of the Australian states and territories and is their national policy and advocacy voice. FPAA works primarily at the national level to uphold, strengthen, and advance sexual and reproductive health and rights, so that all people have freedom and autonomy over all matters related to sexuality, reprod

uction, gender and wellbeing. Our work cuts across 20+ national government strategies and policy frameworks in the portfolios of health, education, gendered violence, equity, e-safety, prevention of child sexual abuse and international development. Through the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) network, FPAA connects internationally with organisations of like mind to further sexual and reproductive health and rights for all.

SRHA has signed onto the nationwide call during Women Deliver 2026, where Naarm/Melbourne is hosting the world’s largest civil-society gathering on gender equality.

With the global spotlight on Australia, governments must step up to address the laws and policies that continue to undermine women’s safety, security, and agency.
We’re proud to stand alongside Fair Agenda, National Foundation for Australian Women, Women With Disabilities Australia, Equality Australia, Amnesty International, Human Rights Law Centre, and many others in calling for real action, not rhetoric, in 2026.

Read the full letter and add your name to call on our governments to step up in 2026 at https://www.womendeliveraus.org/full.

SRHA will be co-hosting a powerful community event at Women Deliver 2026 Conference with MSI Reproductive Choices and SheDecides' Abortion Archives on Thursday 30th April 2026 at 12-1.30pm.

Australia's abortion rights movement has its own history of courage, struggle, and transformation — from landmark legal rulings to state-by-state decriminalisation battles, from street-level activism to the voices of First Nations women whose experience of reproductive violence has shaped a distinct and essential chapter in this story. This session marks the formal beginning of the Abortion Archives' Australian collection.

Inspired by First Nations yarning methodology, this is not a panel. What is shared in this circle — with consent — becomes part of a living, community-authored national collection.

Space is limited to 30 — RSVP to secure your place here: https://luma.com/memory?tk=Sr9hZn

At Parliament House this week, we hosted “You Can’t Ask That!” in partnership with the Parliamentary Friends of Women’s Health - a candid discussion tackling the questions people are often too afraid to ask about sexual and reproductive health.

From contraception and abortion access to STI testing, affordability and misinformation, the conversation was clear:
- Cost-of-living pressures are impacting access to care.
- Abortion remains a postcode lottery in many parts of Australia.
- Young people need practical, inclusive and well-delivered sexuality education.
- Online misinformation is shaping attitudes and undermining trust.
- Workforce gaps are limiting equitable access - particularly in rural and remote communities.

We are continuing to call on government to invest in:

👩🏻‍⚕️ Workforce development
💰 Affordable contraception access
📚Nationally consistent, comprehensive sexuality education
So that care is accessible, affordable and equitable care across Australia.

Thank you to the Parliamentary Friends of Women’s Health and to everyone who asked thoughtful and courageous questions. The conversation doesn’t stop here.

At this moment of change, our message is clear: SRHR must be protected and strengthened — never diluted.
