What a fun day we had on Sunday with the incredible Stacey Williams Artist! A huge thank you to the Lake Bookaar Recreation Reserve Committee of Management for the use of the Old Bookaar School, such a special community venue and the perfect place for creative exploring connecting with community. Another massive thank you and shout out to Community Bank Cobden and Camperdown for their ongoing support and sponsorship, allowing us to support and engage local venues, artists and businesses, and providing affordable opportunities for community to come together for some self-care, inspiration and fun. Our last workshop with Stacey for the year is fabric painting where you can make your own personalised tote bag etc; perfect if you’re wanting to get ahead with your Christmas gifting but also a lovely thing to make for yourself! We are so lucky in this region to have so many creative people offering opportunities for us to connect, express and inspire. The Noorat Writers Group facilitate some amazing creative writing events, workshops and experiences. Community House proudly now auspices the group and are thrilled to be able to support and collaborate. There are some wonderful events coming up this week/weekend; the Writers Session on Saturday looks especially exciting (see photo for details and booking QR code). We hope to see you there!

As a part of our funded food security project, Corangamite Foodbank has had an upgrade! We now have new shelving and accessible equipment to support our diverse volunteer team and streamline our production! Since 2019, the distribution of food relief form our foodbank service has increased over 700%! Unfortunately with the increasing pressures resulting from rising cost of living, we don't anticipate this will reduce any time soon.

To continue to meet this growing need, we need to continue to diversify the financial support we secure to keep things going. Part of this process is securing local financial support. Corangamite Foodbank is a service available to every Corangamite resident. Click on the link above to find your nearest supplier.

It is a free session and a light lunch will be provided. We hope to see you there, and spread the word!

What an amazing morning we’ve had so far at the Cobden Food Rescue Market. A huge thank you to everyone who has come so far and made it such a lovely calm and community atmosphere. A special thank you the Helen, Barb, our partners at Cobden UC Op Shop, for going the extra mile as always and to all of the volunteers that lent a hand today. We will be opening the market free of restrictions from 11.15am until close at 11.30am; we still have quite a bit of fresh and pantry produce/products so if you’re able to pop into the UC Hall then, please come and help us reduce food waste while going home with some great items! Together we can all make a difference.

Thank you as well to our incredible Community Bank Cobden and Camperdown for supporting this initiative by donating the reusable shopping bags!

We are so lucky to have access to so many talented and generous artists in our region. Stacey Williams Artist is such a fantastic facilitator and we have now had two sold out workshops in our current art series with her. We have support and sponsorship from the incredible Community Bank Cobden and Camperdown which has allowed us to effectively halve the cost of tickets for these workshops to make it more affordable and accessible for everyone but ensures that Stacey is paid properly for her time, skill and materials. We hope you can join us for our next workshop with Stacey, we will be creating beautiful mosaic art! Come and explore this fun medium and make some beautiful pieces to take home.

Our next Food Rescue Market in partnership with Cobden UC Op Shop is this Friday! Join us at the Cobden UC Hall (corner Adams and Curdie streets) between 10-11.30am. Following the unfortunate events at the last Cobden market we have introduced new regulations to ensure the market day will be a safe and happy event for everyone coming along:

* There is no longer a BYO shopping bag, a single bag will be provided to anyone visiting the market and only one bag per person will be allowed.
*Unsociable behaviour will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave the market empty handed. This includes pushing, grabbing or not following our guidelines.
*We will have separate entry and exit, you will be required to follow the lines/arrows through the market to exit at the rear of the hall.
* At 11.15am no restrictions will apply to any remaining stock, so anyone is welcome to come back at that time and collect anything they wish, but up until that point the new single bag per person applies.

We ask that everyone attending market day be respectful of each other and our volunteers and help us create a friendly and happy atmosphere for this event. Together we can reduce food waste in our community in a way that benefits all of us.

Food Rescue Markets is not a food relief program, they are community events with the primary aim of reducing food waste in our community and food from going to landfill. Food Rescue Markets are open to anyone in the community interested in helping reduce food waste; you are not required to be in need of food relief to attend a market day.

This program is supported by Ritchies IGA Camperdown and Cobden, Western District Food Share and Corangamite Foodbank (our food relief service). A big thank you to Community Bank Cobden and Camperdown for donating the reusable bags for this week's market!
