Some things are out of our control.
What people think. What they say. What they choose. What life throws at us when we least expect it.

But some things are still ours.

How we speak to ourselves.
Who we surround ourselves with.
Whether we rest or keep running ourselves into the ground.
Whether we reach out.
Whether we stay bitter or become softer through it all.

Learning the difference between what’s “out there” and what’s actually within our hands can change a lot. Not overnight. Not perfectly. But enough to breathe again.

Lately I’ve been trying to spend less energy wrestling storms and more energy building peace where I can. Even if that just looks like slowing down at the creek, taking a breath, and remembering I don’t have to carry the whole world today.. and here’s your reminder to do the same 💙

It can really be this simple

Taking care of your mental health isn’t about doing everything perfectly… it’s about doing a few things consistently 🤍

Some days it looks like movement.
Some days it’s writing things out instead of holding them in.
Other days, it’s simply noticing how you feel without trying to “fix” it straight away.

These small, everyday habits? They’re the quiet builders of resilience.

If you’re supporting someone else, or learning to support yourself, start here. Keep it simple. Keep it real.

Which one do you find easiest… and which one do you avoid the most? 👇

Most of our connections come from this, a chance encounter and connection… and that’s exactly how this one began. A random night in Port Douglas, Drew and Gus playing a gig, and Ray walking into the room not knowing that moment would end up meaning so much more.

We’ve been chatting with Ray again recently, and it brought us back to this interview with him and Drew. It’s one of those conversations that doesn’t try to be polished or perfect… it’s just real. There are some beautifully raw moments in there, and a level of honesty that hits you in the chest in the best kind of way.

Ray shares his story with so much openness and courage, and it’s a reminder of why we do what we do at Kick On. Real conversations. Real connection. The kind that can genuinely shift something in someone.

If you’ve got the time, this is one worth sitting with.

And if it resonates, send it to someone who might need it

Ray is an amazing man. He opens up to Drew about losing his 14 year old son Ben, to Su***de, and the impacts it's had on his life.

Last week’s Trivia Night at Bourbon St Bistro and Bar Pty Ltd was an absolute cracker. Full house, big laughs, suspiciously smart people, and enough competitive energy to power Cairns for a week 🧠⚡️

Most importantly, Nadine raised $1,148 towards her $5,000 marathon goal for Kick On Charity. Every dollar helping us continue real conversations, real support, and real impact in the community.

The questions were tough, the games were chaos in the best way, and the plank-off became a public display of core strength that some of us could only dream of. While I was mentally tapping out at 47 seconds, legends in the room pushed past 3 minutes. Unsettling stuff. 😅

A massive thank you to everyone who came along, brought mates, backed the cause, bought tickets, and created such a brilliant atmosphere. You made the night what it was.

Huge thanks as well to every business and person who donated prizes. Community support like that means everything. Special mention to the iconic Bali Bogan Box… featuring a pack of ciggies and a Bintang, which somehow became one of the hottest prizes of the night. Culture. Prestige. Sophistication. 🤣🍺

We’re so grateful for this community. Nadine’s still chasing that $5K target, so stay tuned… we’re not done yet! And if you’d like to show your support please head on over and donate to Nadine’s journey 👉 www.kickon.com.au/nadine

Big hearts, good people, and businesses that back community when it counts.

A huge thank you to our incredible sponsors for getting behind Nadine’s fundraiser and helping turn a great night into something that genuinely gives back. Because of your support, we’re one step closer to helping Nadine hit her $5,000 goal for Kick On and continue creating real conversations and real impact.

To everyone who has jumped on board already, thank you.. you’re the kind of people who make things happen.

We’ve still got room for a couple more teams if anyone wants to join the fun, support a powerful cause, and be part of a bloody good night. Gather your crew and get involved before the spots disappear into the sunset.

DM Nadine Gray to lock in your team.

ALL proceeds will be going towards Nadine's charity fundraiser, Marathon for mental health, raising funds for our awesome charity with her overall goal of $5000 up to running her first ever marathon (12th July) which will provide 10 workshops for up to 300 children in North Queensland.

Words from Nadine "I chose this charity and particular workshop so we can begin tackling mental health from the ground up and before children become adults that succumb to harmful mental states. You can read more on my gofundme link in my bio.
I look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday for trivia fun 🤩🥳🙌🫶"

Now that’s what we call a morning view 😍

The biggest question we get is “how do we support your cause” and the answer is simple, buy a piece of clothing from our online kick on store as 100% of the proceeds go in to the development and delivery of emotional intelligence workshops across the country.

Same with donations - which are 100% tax desirable just in case you didn’t know!

Support the cause, help change a life
