On 16 May, communities around the world marked Epic Day of Service, with Rotary clubs coming together to take action and make a meaningful difference locally.

Across Cairns, Rotary clubs collaborated on a shared project, preparing close to 100 meals that will be distributed to people affected by domestic and family violence. These meals will provide practical support to those in need and support local organisations delivering frontline services.

As part of the initiative, the clubs also worked together to purchase and donate a freezer to a local shelter, helping ensure meals and essential supplies can be safely stored and accessed when needed.

This project highlights what can be achieved when clubs unite with a common purpose—combining resources, time and effort to support vulnerable members of the community.

🥘💛 Serving our community, one meal at a time 💛🥘

At the Rotary Club of Cairns, service isn’t just something we talk about — it’s something we do.

In this video, Club President Jean shares the incredible impact of their regular meal program, providing around 50 meals every week to support victims of domestic violence in Cairns.

These meals are more than just food — they offer comfort, dignity, and a reminder that our community cares.

Jean also explains how the club works tirelessly behind the scenes to fundraise and cover the costs, ensuring this vital support continues week after week. It’s a true example of Rotary in action — locals helping locals when it matters most.

👏 Huge thanks to Jean and the Rotary Club of Cairns for making a real difference in our community.

🎥 Take a moment to listen to Jean’s story and see how your support helps change lives.

💛 “Rotary is one big family.” 💛

In this heartfelt message, Atherton Rotary Club President Glenda shares the biggest thing that surprised her about joining Rotary — the incredible sense of connection, support, and belonging that comes with it.

Across Tropical North Queensland and around the world, Rotary isn’t just about service… it’s about people. It’s about friendships that grow, leaders who lift each other up, and a community that feels like family.

No matter where you’re from or which club you belong to, you’ll always have a place in Rotary. 🌍🤝

🎥 Take a moment to hear her story — you might just recognise that same feeling.

1 in 3 women. This is more than a number, it’s a reality we can’t ignore.

Since the age of 15, one in three women has experienced physical or sexual violence—often by someone they know. This impacts families, workplaces, and our entire community.

When we speak up, we break the silence and support safer relationships.
