A huge welcome and thank you to Sundive Byron Bay, a new sponsor of Nautilus Scuba Club Cairns and our 2026 Photo Competition.

1 x double dive at Julian Rocks

Based in beautiful Byron Bay, Sundive offers dive and snorkel trips to Nguthungulli Julian Rocks, one of Australia’s most iconic dive sites. Located just offshore, Julian Rocks is famous for its incredible marine life, where tropical and temperate currents meet to create a wonderfully rich underwater world.

For certified divers and underwater photographers, this prize is a beauty: sharks, rays, turtles, schooling fish, nudibranchs, reef life and all the blue-water Byron drama you could hope for. It’s the sort of dive site that can serve up big animals and tiny treasures in the same breath.

Sundive is also Byron Bay’s only PADI 5 Star Dive Centre, with a long history of diving Julian Rocks and a strong focus on quality, safety and service.

Octopus Dive has generously donated a fantastic prize:

A voucher for a dive course, valid for 12 months

Led by Mel, Octopus Dive is a true club favourite and offers something really special for Nautilus Scuba Club Cairns members, not just during the photo competition, but all year round.

Based in Cairns, Octopus Dive offers a wide range of dive training and experiences, from beginner courses through to continuing education, specialty training, Divemaster, occupational dive courses and first aid. Their training locations include the beautiful fringing reefs of Fitzroy Island, the freshwater Crater Lakes of the Atherton Tablelands, and local pool training for skill development.

Based in Townsville, Adrenalin Dive offers reef adventures to some of the Central Great Barrier Reef’s most unique dive sites, including the Museum of Underwater Art, also known as MOUA, at John Brewer Reef.

MOUA is a truly special underwater experience, combining art, reef, conservation and storytelling beneath the surface. Certified divers can explore the underwater sculptures up close, including the Coral Greenhouse and surrounding reef life. It’s the kind of dive where your camera does not know whether to chase coral, fish, sculptures, light beams or all of the above.

A day trip for two snorkellers

Based in Cairns, Pure Snorkelling offers reef adventures designed especially for snorkellers, with small groups, fast travel to the reef and plenty of time in the water. Their half-day afternoon reef trip departs from Cairns’ Marlin Marina and gives guests over two hours of snorkelling at one of their exclusive Great Barrier Reef locations.

This is a wonderful prize for anyone who loves the reef from the surface: floating over coral gardens, watching fish life below, spotting reef details in natural light and enjoying the Great Barrier Reef without needing dive gear.

Pure Snorkelling is also proudly local, with their website noting they are among the few remaining locally owned reef operators in Cairns. They focus on uncrowded reef experiences, experienced local operators and in-water support from staff dedicated to looking after guests.
