Byford Bucks Basketball committee would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and safe travels during this festive season. 💫

Enjoy your break and we will see you all back on the court term 1, 2026 from Monday February 1st. 🏀

We would also like to take the opportunity to thank all of the volunteers that show up each week and make our little basketball community feel like a family- to our coaches, team managers, score bench officials, referees and sideline supporters. A very special mention to our committee who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the association ticking, we thank you 🙏🏻

An extra special thank you to Santa and his elves that showed up on the sideline and a few on the court this past week. 🎅 🦌

BYFORD BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION - COUNTRY CHAMPS 2026

As we wrapped up the 2025 State Championships over the weekend, we turn our focus to the BWA COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026.
Another one of the exciting development opportunities Byford Basketball Association offers is the potential to be selected to represent Byford at the 2026 Belt Up BWA Country Championships held over 5 weeks from Jan 31st- March 2nd 2026. This opportunity allows our dedicated, hard-working players from u12 through to open, an opportunity to further develop their basketball skills and knowledge in an intense, competitive but exciting environment, against players from other BWA country basketball associations.

- players selected must be registered in the current BBBA Summer 25/26 season and have played a minimum of 4 games at the time of the competition to qualify.
- Players selected must be able to commit to team training over the December/January summer school holidays. Between 2-3 times a week. Likely Tuesday/Thursday evening and Sunday mornings.
- Players must be able to commit to games scheduled across the whole weekend that their age group is nominated for. (Calendar posted below)
- Players will be required to cover individual nomination fee. BBB will supply association uniform for all teams.
- Players must be under the prescribed age for all of 2026. (Example- a player who turns 12 in 2026 must nominate for u13’s)

The number of teams/age groups nominated for the Championships will be depended on player availability, referee, coach and team manager nominations and skill set across teams. Unfortunately, whilst our female participation rates are increasing, we don’t have the capacity to enter all female teams.

Players- please use the expressions of interest form below to register your interest in being selected to represent Byford in 2026. This will allow committee members and those involved in the selection process chance to watch you in action prior to trials.

Unfortunately due to lack of available court space we are only offering one trial session. Those unable to attend will need to contact to ensure selectors can watch a domestic season game prior as an alternative. Communication is compulsory or you will not be considered.

Good Sports - Game ready Round this week 🏀

Road trauma has taken its toll on too many community sporting clubs – devastating teammates, families and local communities.

We’re taking a stand against drink driving with our Game Ready Round. You have the power to save lives by not drinking and driving, and by making sure your mates don’t either. So be game ready and get there and back safely! 💪🏼

Solid Weekend overall- they came up against some tough competition but gave it a hot crack and came away with 2 Wins, 1 Draw & 2 Losses.

Congratulations to our u13’s Blue and White representative teams who competed at the BWA State Championships this weekend. The boys finished 3rd and 4th respectively in their pools. 👏🏻

Congratulations to our u17 boys who competed at the BWA state championships over the weekend. 🏀

U17’s blue taking time to find their feet but pulled it together in fantastic form by the final round. 💪🏻

U17’s White looking strong all weekend but just fell short of finals finishing 3rd on the ladder. 👏🏻

Some incredible talent and camaraderie amongst these two teams. Well done boys and thank you coaches. 🙏🏻

Next up and to finish our state campaign December 6th and 7th we have our u13’s white & u13’s blue @ Warwick Stadium from 9:30am Saturday and u19’s @ Bendat Basketball Centre from 2:30pm Saturday 🏀

- Fill ins. All players must be registered and displayed on the iPads throughout regular season games. Fill-ins are allowed when teams have no bench players. (ie - 5 registered players available, one fill-in allowed) There is a one off cost of $10 for unregistered players. Fill in’s can only play twice before having to register as a financial player for insurance purposes. Fill in costs will be deducted from fees for those who then register to a team but do not count as qualifying games for finals.
There will be a QR code available to scan on game day located on the pin up board in the hallway for emergency fill-ins but should be done prior so players can be assigned to teams in advance.
No fill in should play without completing the rego link or having approval from court management, otherwise the game may result in a forfeit. Fill in link or QR code. 👇🏻

🏀 BYFORD BUCKS BASKETBALL - General housekeeping!

Now we are through grading rounds and into our competitions rounds, we just have a few reminders to players and families.

- Spectators and siblings must remain seated during games. It is extremely unsafe for both players and referees to have children running in between the courts. Please ensure children are supervised at all times. (The curtains are out of bounds please do not touch them)

- Mouth guards are compulsory, please make sure all players have them each week.

- Uniforms - shorts must match your club uniform or be majority black and must not have any pockets. Incorrect uniform will result in penalties to start the game. Undershirts MUST be compression (white, black, beige or match your team uniform colour) no loose fitting t-shirts.

- Fill ins - all players must be registered and displayed on the ipads. Fill-ins are allowed when teams have no bench players. - Forfeits- any forfeit without 48 hrs notice will incur a fee from the forfeiting team. Short notice means BBBA still have to cover referee and court costs and have limited time to adjust timeslots to suit.

- Zero tolerance!!!!! BBBA have zero tolerance toward poor behaviour inside our stadium from spectators and players , particularly towards our referees. Abuse and negativity will not be tolerated on or off the court. All sideline support must be positive and encouraging towards both teams and officials. Stadium supervisors have the right to ask anyone displaying unsatisfactory behaviour to leave. If you have an issue that needs resolving immediately please approach a black and white stripe referee or a court/stadium supervisors (wearing Byford association shirt) Do not approach or question a green shirt referee, most are young and learning the game just like your players. No ref no game!
