As everyone is aware, we once again find ourselves at odds with Racing Queensland. Once again, decisions have been made that go against the wishes of many within our industry. The time has come for us to stand together, stand firm, and ensure our collective voice is heard.
It is crucial that we unite as one industry and work toward a stronger future for all participants. A united and representative body can provide the advocacy and support that our industry needs. The Queensland Greyhound Participants Association has the potential to be that voice—representing participants, promoting transparency, and ensuring that the interests of those involved in the sport are properly considered.
Now more than ever, unity is essential. Together, we can make sure our concerns are heard and our industry is represented effectively.

The Queensland Greyhound Participant Association (QGPA) is a proposed new independent participant representative body for the Queensland greyhound racing industry. The purpose of the QGPA is to provide a professional, transparent and genuinely representative voice for licensed greyhound participants...

Today has been a win but a small win we all still need to stick together be strong and keep this boycott going….
Today marks a special day that we have all stuck together and shown racing Queensland we have had enough….. enough of the lies enough of the broken promises we as the greyhound code generate more than the other two codes and get treated like second class citizens we are sick and tired of it enough is enough…..

Petition Update!!!!

I had a phone call from the Acting CEO this morning.

He implored us not to "strike" because RQ can't do anything because of the Government Review, once again passing the buck.

I said to him we understand there is a review happening but that DOESN'T stop RQ to committing to keeping Bundy open & turning it loam/sand pending the review.
I also said this was RQ's doing as they did the resurface. That we have 5 tracks in QLD, horses have 100 plus don't think we're asking for much for our tracks to stay open.
I also said the industry already believe RQ is using this review in order to close Bundy without getting the blame.

His words were that they won't commit to that because they DO NOT have the MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I told him they need to get off their butts and do a better costing as 4-5 million to convert to sand/loam is absolutely ridiculous!!!!!
He said about making it a straight told him might as well close Bundy and that it will cost a lot more then 5 million to do that, I asked if anyone had actually stepped foot on Bundy to see the earthworks that would need doing to build a straight. he didn't have much to say on that.

He did commit to getting that re done which is a small win.

I told him I would let everyone know but the fact RQ was still non-committal and blaming the review that I don't think they'll be happy with that, and that we seem to be at a stale mate.

I said to him how long do we wait for the government review, considering the review hasn't even started!!!!!!!
the world doesn't stop. We aren't doing it to be as****es a lot of us are talking through our back pockets and our futures in the industry.
And that the trainers in Bundy deserve better!!!

So after that call I firmly believe we NEED to proceed with the withholding. We don't even know what the scope of the review will be, I firmly believe RQ are using it as a decoy. Let's keep the pressure on, I honestly believe we have them rattled.

Hey guys quick update

We are hoping for a detailed media release to clarify RQ’s position on Bundaberg soon. We are hoping this will give the Bundaberg and the greyhound community some answers and direction.

A few people have also asked why we would boycott meetings and the answer has been the same all along. That is we want RQ to guarantee that Bundaberg will remain as a club and to give them what was promised at the end of 2023 which was a loam/sand surface. We all understand that there is a review underway and we are happy to be patient but we need some direction as to what the bigger picture will be for Bundaberg as it is a vital part of the Qld greyhound community.

Time to put the pressure on. People are obviously taking notice! All we want is the Loam that was promised by RQ and so...

Time to put the pressure on. People are obviously taking notice!

All we want is the Loam that was promised by RQ and some real answers with a realistic time frame

Bundaberg deserves better and so does the rest of QLD

A group of Queensland greyhound trainers are threatening to boycott racing as a response to the cessation of racing on the current track at Bundaberg.

This will effect everyone wether you race at Bundaberg or not. We all need to stand together!

Hey guys we have put together an email for people to be able to send to the local member of Bundaberg. The more people that email hopefully means the louder we are heard.

Tom,

I am writing to you concerning the situation regarding the Bundaberg Greyhound Racing track and the negative impact it is having on the Wide Bay region.

The track has been out of commission for months now due to an unsafe racing surface. Much has been done to try to rectify the state of the track, but being a grass track these issues have not been able to be overcome. The club and the greyhound racing participants from both the Bundaberg region, as well as the rest of the state have partitioned Racing Queensland for funding to convert the track to loam (sand). This would provide a safer and more reliable racing surface. Racing Queensland have thus far reneged on any agreement to convert the track claiming no funding for infrastructure. This is whilst they spend tens of millions building 3 new tracks to cater for South-East Queensland. It seems the regional areas are being left behind again. Most concerning is the rumour mill coming out of racing Qld is that the track is to be closed.

If this would occur this would not only be detrimental to the greyhound trainers in the Wide Bay Area, but also the region as a whole. Closing the track would result in numerous lost jobs. These jobs are not just trainers, but any job associated with the industry. This include track staff, transporters, hospitality workers, the pet food industry etc. Another negative outcome would be lost income to the region as people travel from all parts of Queensland to the region to race which was previously done on a weekly basis and could be facilitated more often with a loam track. This means less regular visitors to the region spending less money on accomodation, hospitality etc. The loss of greyhound racing would be a terrible loss for the area.

As the local member I would hope you would be against the removal of any industry from the region, especially when the land used is inside the Bundaberg horse racing track which is believed to be staying open. The funding involved in the track conversion to provide a safer surface would be minimal compared to the economic benefits the racing industry brings to the region. Would you be willing to get in contact with the racing minister and racing Queensland to push for racing to be reintroduced with a loam track to Bundaberg as soon as safely possible.

As the Bundaberg club prepare for their meeting with Racing Queensland on Tuesday, trainers have opted to initiate a petition advocating for the preservation of Bundaberg as a racing club. Should RQ be unable to assure the club's future, participants across the state will be suspending all nominations from March 3rd to March 9th.

We would also love to see more owners and trainers join the Bundaberg club by becoming members. If you're interested in obtaining membership forms, please reach out to Kylie Raines or Cecil Druery. Additionally, forms will be accessible at the Ipswich races this evening.
