Today we collected two large bags of litter from the area. My thanks to Lauren who joined me. A dramatic difference before and after litter clean-up. That's kilos of rubbish that may have otherwise ended up in our waterways.

A big job was done today cleaning out the litter from the vegetation that supports the dunes, and as usual, the beach, paths, and picnic area on the back beach. My thanks to those who joined in; Mathew and Marie. We collected just over 9kg of rubbish.

Solo effort today at the skate Park. I filled a bread. Bag and half a shopping bag. It needed more done but after 90 minutes I called it a day. But you dont need to be on an organised day. If you pick up just one piece of rubbish as you walk the street, that's one piece that doesn't end up in a drain and eventually in our waterways.

None registered for today so solo work. I appreciate this is a busy time of year. So I contained myself to a smaller area. The litter was profuse.

It's the holiday season, and with that comes an increase in litter. It's important to remove it, particularly plastic-based products, or it ends up in the drains and eventually our waters.
Litter Cleanup 2 Jan starting 8am for one hour.

We recently performed a major cleanup behind Dome Cafe on Holman Street, but there's a section that wasn't completed and is heavily littered. From there, it would be good to move to the Skate Park, which is similarly littered.

As usual, bring sun protection and a bag to collect litter. Also, bring nitrile gloves. I shall bring extra bags, gloves and alcohol gel.

Meet outside Dome Cafe on Holman Street. I shall be wearing a light blue Sue Chapman T-Shirt in order to make me identifiable,

For those keen, itd be great to go for a coffee and chat afterwards,

For those who find it hard to get to these things, when you go for a walk along the street or beach, take a small plastic bag with you. Whatever litter you remove, no matter how small, it's an absolute bonus to our environment.

Cleaned from the path next to the Mantra to the picnic area by the beach. A young guy, named Cove, joined me in his hi viz who said he had the same idea. He did some work for Sea Shepherd. The amount we collected in such a small area was horrendous. Broken glass, rubbish everywhere.

Worst offenders: smokers.
According to Cove, the worst is backpacker girls urinating on the beach at night and leaving their wipes.

I also noted quite a lot of xmas tinsel strands. This stuff is bad if it enters the ocean as the flash of silver encoutages fish to consume it.

Anything you remove is a bonus

A huge clean up behind Dome with several large bags of rubbish collected. Seven participated today, thanks to the team of Barry, Cate, John, Jane, Aubrey, julia and Sheila. My thanks to everyone. You've turned a rubbish ridden area threatening our waters into a clean area.
