$4,550 raised.
One mildly unhinged Mondeo.
Still aiming for the full $5,000.

My father and I are taking this 2011 Ford Mondeo on the 2026 Winter , driving more than 3,500km from Mildura to Townsville via the Birdsville Track and the Gulf of Carpentaria, all to raise money for Cancer Council Australia.

What started as a $900 ex-family sedan has now become… this.

• A roller-painted roof.
• Monster face.
• Questionable artistic decisions.
• And somehow still road legal.

We’re now only $450 away from hitting our fundraising target, so this is the point where I shamelessly ask for help from Facebook. The roads will be terrible. Mechanical sympathy is discouraged. And every dollar raised goes to Cancer Council

The electrical gremlins continue, and after sourcing a replacement lock mechanism and door module from a breaker, the door still thinks it’s open when it isn’t. And goes bing b**g bing b**g ad nauseum as a result.
So I’m reduced to continuity testing the look, pin by pin, wire by wire. And still no closer to finding a solution.
The joys of ownership! Does anyone know an auto-electrician?

With the addition of the official SSh*tbox Rallystickers, the Festering Ford now looks the part! The decorations are still being planned by our artist-in-chief (aged almost 8), but will probably involve a monster face or two.

Our wonderfully generous friends, family and colleagues past and present have boosted our fundraising total to an amazing $3250!
