Lets appreciate our environment and the work being locally done to save our local koalas!
Meet Dove, the Koala joey that sadly has chlamydia, at just 6 months old!
This disease does not discriminate - it affects male, female and infant Koala joeys.
Chlamydia can be passed on from Mum to Bub and may also affect a Koala’s ability to reproduce in the wild.
It costs an average of $7000 to treat, rehabilitate and release a single Koala. This includes a 4-6 week course of antibiotics.
Fortunately, Dove has now been vaccinated against chlamydia, which will assist in preventing her from contracting the disease again.
Saving endangered Koalas is a top priority for Currumbin Wildlife Hospital and we’re so grateful for the support both locally and globally.
